It is not the first book that I read in the genre, so I would say that this is fully integrated in the mainstream: GDR, Stasi and socialism in the 28 year life of the wall. In reality I would be interested to know a little more of the years between the end of the Second World War and the building of the wall, because it is a relatively neglected period in which the number of spies in Berlin was very high.

Non é il primo libro che leggo sul genere, quindi direi che anche questo rientra a pieno titolo nel filone: GDR, Stasi e socialismo nei 28 anni di durata del muro. Attualmente mi sarebbe in realtá interessato sapere un po' di piú degli anni tra la fine della seconda guerra mondiale e la costruzione del muro, perché é un periodo relativamente ignorato nel quale il numero di spie a Berlino era altissimo.

Libro divertente, con un po' di steampunk, un po' di avventura e soprattutto una relazione che ancora non si é consumata (succederá? non succederá?) e quindi fa voglia di proseguire la serie e, nel mio caso, di leggere anche il primo volume.

Very interesting and above all it filled many of the gaps in my history knowledge (due to being European I suppose) about Asia and Africa and what has happened in the last 300 years. A Must Read for all those who have not as clear as we got up to here.

Molto interessante e soprattutto ha colmano moltissime delle mie lacune da "europea" rispetto alla storia dell'Asia/Africa e di quanto avvenuto negli ultimi 300 anni. Da leggere per tutti coloro che non hanno chiaro come siamo arrivati fino a qui.

It is too long in my opinion, I liked the first half but I have to admit that somewhere around page 250 I got lost and I never found the way around the plot again. Siri, Susan and Sarasti are like bazillions characters all together, plus there are the flashbacks in Siri's life, but I couldn't tell the story of this book even if I try. I will settle for something easy like " the revenge of the vampire species".

Decisamente troppo lungo secondo me, la prima metá mi é piaciuta, ma intorno a pagina 250 mi sono persa e non ho piú ritrovato il bandolo della matassa. Siri, Susan e Sarasti sono una marea di personaggi tutti assieme, inoltre ci sono i flashbacks nella vita di Siri e anche se ne andasse della mia vita non sarei in grado di raccontare cosa succede in questo libro, quindi mi accontenteró di un laconico "la vendetta della specie dei vampiri".

Having the opportunity to see (read about) a city that I really like New York (which however I'm not very familiar) change over the centuries through the eyes of famous writers (plus a couple of critics and a songwriter) was really a great opportunity. So I would recommend this book to anyone who loves great literature, walk, and then New York, in that order.

Vedere una cittá che mi piace molto come New York (che peró non conosco molto bene purtroppo) cambiare nei secoli attraverso gli occhi di scrittori famosi (piú un paio di critici e un cantautore) mi é piaciuto molto. Quindi consiglio questo libro a tutti coloro che amano la grande letteratura, camminare e poi New York, in quest'ordine.

Every time time there is a long story that fails, or almost, due to honor problems, the main characters are always Greeks or Italians and I have always found it so funny. This time is not different and we are in Greece. Easy enjoyable reading.

Ogni volta che c'é una love story che potrebbe non trovare il lieto fine per una questione d'onore, i protagonisti sono sempre o greci o italiani e anche stavolta non si scampa. In Grecia un magnate ritrova il figlio che riteneva mai nato.... Facile e piacevole lettura.

I must admit that although I am a big fan of regency romance, this book started on the wrong foot because the reason of James being left by Laurel seemed a pretext so stupid that it ruined the rest of the book for me; I do not want to spoil, but also the reason for getting back together is totally trivial and obvious.

Devo ammettere che nonostante io sia una grande fan dei regency romance, questo é partito con il piede sbagliato perché l'abbanondono di James da parte di Laurel mi é sembrato un pretesto talmente stupido che mi ha rovinato tutto il resto del libro; non voglio spoilerare, ma anche il motivo per tornare assieme é totalmente banale e scontato.

I have to say that despite being based on empirical evidence and talking about the neurophysiological basis of anxiety this book does not scare even those who are not experts in neuroscience, but I think its strength is in advising, however, the opinion of an expert and not to underestimate the role of psychiatric drugs.

Devo dire che pur essendo basato su prove empiriche e parlando delle basi neurofisiologiche dell'ansia questo libro non spaventa e vale anche coloro che non sono esperti di neuroscienze, ma credo che il suo punto di forza stia nel consigliare comunque il parere di un esperto e di non sottovalutare il ruolo degli psicofarmaci.

Un altro grande romanzo, da un'autrice che sta diventando velocemente una delle mie preferite. Stavolta Geoffrey e Prudence devono investigare un probabile bigamo, un fotografo pazzo e intanto gestire alcune loro emozioni poco chiare e io devo ammettere che ho letto il libro tutto di seguito perché non volevo smettere...

I had some difficulties after the first half, because it get complicated and a little bit confused also, but it was an enjoyable reading that gave me food for thoughts, still I am not sure that I will read the other two books of this trilogy, mostly because I struggle with Chinese names.

Clearly, this book should be read only by people that are interested in Japan and its story, first of all, because it is a historical/anthropological excursus on Japan, from the beginning of its recorded history up to the present day. How history has affected this state, that for a long time it held itself segregated both from Asia and by the West, as in the last century, despite the economic boom in Japan somehow it is not able to withstand time more and more fast development, although it had miraculously survived the defeat of the Second world War and the following economic and social crises.

Well written and very interesting.

Chiaramente questo libro deve interessare prima di tutto, perché é un excursus storico/antropologico sul Giappone, diciamo dall'inizio della sua storia documentata fino al giorno d'oggi. Come la storia abbia influenzato questo stato che per lungo tempo si é tenuto segregato sia dall'Asia che dall'occidente, come nell'ultimo secolo, nonostante il boom economico il Giappone in qualche modo non é riuscito a reggere i tempi sempre piú veloci di sviluppo, nonostante si fosse miracolosamente ripresa dalla sconfitta della seconda guerra mondiale e dalla seguenti crisi economiche e sociali.

Ben scritto e molto interessante.

Se c'é una cosa che non sopporto é spacciare un libro per qualche cosa che non é. in questa raccolta di racconti soltanto uno é di Lovercraft e tutti gli altri, per quanto gli autori si rifacciano al Mito di Cthulhu, non sono suoi.

I usually like Lori Foster but this book was so...meehhh. The characters were stereotypical, the story was not believable at all and in the end it took me ages to read it all. And I will not read the others.

Great detective story where we meet again detective Kaga, whom I love much more than detective Galileo from the same author. bering new to the precinct, he starts to investigate all the shops the victim used to go before being killed and so the writer builds up the story for us also, only trough the eyes of shops assistants and neighbors. Cool story, great krimi.

Bel giallo dove reincontriamo il detective Kaga, che mi piace molto di piú del Detective Galileo, sempre dello stesso autore. Nuovo nel quartiere, Kaga comincia ad investigare tutti i movimenti della vittima attraverso le visite ai negozi che soleva fare e quindi la storia ci si dipana davanti agli occhi attraverso i racconti di commesse e negozianti. Bella storia, grande investigazione.

As far as love stories go, I am usually not fond of pirate and kidnapping, but this was a Bridgerton's prequel so I had to read it. In the end the story of Andrew and Poppy was not so bad, full of bickering and funny situations, but I was looking forward to something special, and this nove is not so special, I am sorry....

Per quello che concerne le storie d'amore, devo ammettere che di solito evito quelle con i rapimenti da parte di pirati, per quanto gentiluomini, ma questo libro faceva parte dei Bridgerton e quindi non mi potevo esimere. In finale non é stato tanto male, ma era anche lungi dall'essere speciale o indimenticabile, per quanto fosse divertente e pieno di battute salaci tra i due protagonisti. Il prossimo sará diverso quanto meno....
