Es war an interessantes Buch, wiel ich nix über Rilke, Vogeler und die Kunstlerkolonie wußte. Die Sprache war ein bisschen schwierig und vielleicht diese gab mir die Idee, dass das Buch ein bisschen oberfläche war.
Libro per certi versi interessante perchè non avevo idea delle relazioni tra Rilke, Vogeler (che ingnoravo completamente) e la colonia degli artisti. Il linguaggio era un po' difficile e forse questo potrebbe aver contribuito a darmi l'idea che la storia fosse descritta in un modo un po' superficiale.

I was actually expecting something more dramatically full of misunderstandings before arriving at the final clarification, but the truth is that Evelyn and Sawyer had it easy from the beginning and I was a bit bored. Apart from that, the book suffers like all the first novels in a series, from the difficulty of introducing all the other characters that will come along and the effort to make them interesting. We'll see....
In realtá mi aspettavo qualcosa di piú drammaticamente pieno di incomprensioni prima di arrivare al chiarimento finale, ma la veritá é che Evelyn e Sawyer hanno avuto tutto facile sin dall'inizio e mi hanno un po' annoiato. A parte questo, il libro soffre come tutti i primi romanzi di una serie, della difficoltá di presentare tutti gli altri personaggi che arriveranno e dello sforzo di renderli interessanti. Staremo a vedere....

Short stories are not my cup of tea, they just don't last enough, but this is not true for King's short stories, that are nothing short of perfect even if they are short :)
Le storie brevi di solito non mi fanno impazzire, proprio perché, la maggior parte delle volte mi sembra che sarebbero potuto essere storie lunghe molto migliori, ma questo non vale per il re, perché le sue storie sono molto molto belle anche se corte.

It was ok but it was all clear since the beginning what was going to happen and that's a pity because I like the way the author writes and how she handles the characters, anyway I won't mind reading some other books written by her.
È un libro carino, ma piuttosto scontato dall'inizio alla fine, peccato perché mi piace il modo di scrivere dell'autrice e come gestisce i personaggi e quindi non mi dispiacerá leggere qualcos'altro scritto da lei.

I don't consider myself an expert on C. Whitehead partly because I've only read three of his books, but I certainly wasn't expecting this one, which seems almost like a funny book, as much as there are tragic moments as well. Let's just say that I was so taken aback by the plot that I can't really tell if I'm disappointed by my own expectations because I thought it would be a different book or if, on the contrary, I didn't like it that much, regardless of what I was expecting.
Non mi considero un'esperta di C. Whitehead anche perché ho letto solo tre dei suoi libri, ma certamente non mi aspettavo questo, che sembra quasi un libro comico, per quanto ci siano anche momenti tragici. Diciamo pure che la trama mi ha talmente preso in contropiede che non saprei ben stabilire se sono delusa dalle mie stesse aspettative perché lo pensavo un libro diverso o se invece, non é che mi sia poi piaciuto tanto, a prescindere da quello che mi aspettavo.

There is nothing better for me than a book about books, and this one has also a philosophical approach to books and reading that I found fascinating (when I understood it of course). So I recommend it to all the people interested in books and the in way they choose what to read, because there are also useful suggestions.
Per me é difficile che ci sia qualcosa di piú interessante di un libro che parla di libri, e inoltre questo ha anche un approccio filosofico molto interessante, quando lo capisco sia chiaro. Mi sento quindi di consigliarlo a tutti coloro che sono interessanti ai libri e al modo in cui scelgono cosa leggere, inoltre é anche pieno di suggerimenti a riguardo.

Review: Book Lovers

The insight into the world of publishing is the least obvious thing in this novel. It is cute, but so full of stereotypes that half would have been enough. I think that the author was aware of this, because she was the first to mention them, but although at the beginning it was fun, in the long run boredom took over. Besides that, Charlie and Nora have a good chemistry, but they are so overwhelmed by little problems that they don't realize they are exaggerating on the "insurmountable difficulties" side of living together in the city.
Lo spaccato sul mondo dell'editoria é la cosa meno ovvia di questo romanzetto. Caruccio per caritá, ma cosí pieno di stereotipi che la metá sarebbe bastata. Non a caso credo che l'autrice ne fosse proprio consapevole, perché era la prima a citarli, ma nonostante all'inizio fosse anche divertente, sulla lunga distanza la noia ha un po' preso il sopravvento. A parte questo Charlie e Nora hanno anche una buona chimica per caritá, ma sono cosí sommersi da piccoli problemi che non si rendono conto di stare esagerando sul versante: "difficoltá insormontabili" per vivere assieme a NY.

Although this book is particularly strange, especially for its lack of standard grammar, I must say that I found it very useful, although I would not recommend it to those who are completely unfamiliar with the Japanese language and especially its alphabets at least syllabic.
Per quanto questo libro sia particolarmente strano, specialmente per la sua assenza di grammatica standard, ma devo dire che mi é servito parecchio, anche se non lo consiglierei a chi é completamente digiuno della lingua giapponese e soprattutto dei suo alfabeti almeno sillabici.

Pur non essendo assolutamente il mio genere devo ammettere di averlo letto molto velocemente e divertendomi anche parecchio, unico punto a suo sfavore il fatto che sia a puntate, che é una cosa che sto cominciando ad odiare profondamente. Spero almeno che abbia un numero di puntate ben preciso e limitate, che di serie infinite ne sto giá leggendo troppe.....

Je ne sais pas si mon français était trop rouillée ou si la langue de l'auteur était trop différente de la langue de l'école appris de moi, le fait est que ce livre, je n'ai pas compris précisément. Je ne pouvais pas me créer une idée de ce qui se était passé et je me suis embrouillé avec tous ces personnages.
Non so se il mio francese fosse troppo arrugginito o se quello dell'autrice fosse troppo diverso dalla lingua scolastica imparata da me, fatto sta che questo libro non l'ho capito proprio. Non sono riuscita a crearmi un'idea di quello che fosse successo e mi sono confusa con tutti quei personaggi.

Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear by Elizabeth Gilbert

I didn't know I was living such a creative life till Elizabeth Gilbert told me and explained me why. It's not a bad book, but suggestions like these are not so easy to follow and sometimes I think she was just taking the easy way out because there are times when you have neither time or money to pursue your dream.
Non sapevo di star vivendo un vita cosí creativa fino a che non me l'ha detto Elizabeth Gilbert e mi ha anche spiegato perché. Non é un brutto libro, ma i suggerimenti che contiene non sono certo poi cosí semplici da mettere in atto e a volte mi é sembrato che scegliesse tutte situazioni in cui la creativitá non era poi così difficile da agire, se non fosse che spesso ci sono momenti in cui le persone non hanno né il tempo né i soldi per dedicarsi ai loro sogni.

Was für ein wundervolles Buch! Kompliziert, voller Charakteren und Handlungen die werden nur von der Mitte des Buches klar, aber Rafik Schami ist ein erstaunlich Erzähler.
Che libro meraviglioso! Complicato, pieno di personaggi e con intrecci che si chiariscono solo dalla metá del libro in poi, ma che narratore stupefacente Rafik Schami.

Per certi versi molto interessante anche se certo non si legge tutto d'un fiato. Per altri, estremamente preoccupante, non solo per come stiamo riducendo il pianeta, ma anche noi stessi. Ammetto che avrei fatto volentieri a meno di alcune informazioni....

The Happy Marriage by Tahar Ben Jelloun

I have mixed feelings about this book and I have to admit mostly because I didn't connect nor understand the characters, specially the husband, but the duplicitous wife is not high on my list also. I have to say that I was expecting something different from this book, I thought was an happy book but it is soooo not that the case, but in the end there is a lot of food for the thoughts so I was happy to read it.
Ho dei sentimenti contrastanti nei confronti di questo libro, principalmente perché i personaggi principali non mi sono piaciuti, specialmente il marito, ma anche Amina, la moglie "sottile" non é proprio nella mia top ten. Comunque devo ammettere che siccome mi aspettavo qualcosa di diverso e di fondamentalemente felice (il titolo era da leggere in modo sarcastico, ma io non lo sapevo) era chiaro che la delusione sarebbe stata in agguato, ma almeno mi ha dato da pensare.

I had no idea about the mostly Korean women kidnapped and used as prostitutes for the Japan Army, so this book was illuminating and very sad at the same time.
Non conoscevo la storia delle donne rapite in Corea (per la maggior parte) e costrette a prostituirsi per l'esercito giapponese, quindi questo libro é stato interessante e molto triste allo stesso tempo.

Beautiful and delicate, but I have to admit that I haven't notice such a big difference between the poetry of the zen Monks and the haiku of the "real" poet.
Molto belli e delicati, anche se non sono riuscita a cogliere grandi differenze tra le poesie dei monaci buddisti e gli haiku dei "poeti veri"

Four pre-released essays of Chomsky about language, biology, the two thing together and what are we supposed to do with them (more or less). It's nothing new but if you have never read something written by this author, this book is a good summary of most of his thoughts.
4 saggi giá pubblicati di Chomsky sul linguaggio, la biologia, le due cose assieme e cosa dovremmo farci nell'ottica di un'umanitá migliore. Non é niente di nuovo, ma se non conoscete l'autore questo potrebbe essere un buon bignamino per cominciare.
