Rupert of Hentzau by Anthony HopeMy rating: 2 of 5 stars
I knew I couldn’t trust Hope—I just had a feeling—and anyway, it’s not as if *The Prisoner of Zenda* ended well either... So here I am, writing a review with a broken heart because male authors decided long ago that, to be taken seriously, they can never give their books a happy ending. More compelling and complex than *Zenda*, this *Rupert* picks up the story three years after *Zenda* and brings it to a conclusion—one I find unworthy, but okay.
