It was a good book, because even if it was a well known story, it was told from the inside of a "normal family" and it told the struggles to keep "the walls of the family up and to be true to oneself". So even if this is not the first book I read about the DDR, it was probably to most explicative and clear about that period.

È stato un buon libro, perché anche se la storia é nota, sentirla raccontare da una normale famiglia e rendersi conto delle loro quotidiane battaglie per evitare di tradire se stessi e gli altri é stato molto affascinante. Quindi anche se non era proprio il primo libro che leggevo sulla DDR, é sicuramente quello che mi ha fornito piú informazioni sul periodo.

Berlin just after the wall was built, Berlin during the cold war with the wall between east block and west block and Berlin after the Mauerfall (as the German calls it). Super cool book, mostly because I live here and I know what he is talking about.

Berlino appena prima e appena dopo la costruzione del muro, Berlino durante il muro come posto diviso tra il blocco occidentale e quello orientale e Berlino dopo la caduta del muro. Libro figo, soprattutto perché vivo qui e so di cosa parla l'autore.

Ich habe wirklich gemischte Gefühle über dieses Buch, weil, auch wenn es manchmal lustig war (auch nicht so viel wie ich dachte) entlang ich danke es war nicht richtig zu lachen für etwas wie Hitlers zurückkommt.

I have really mixed feelings about this book because, even if sometimes it was funny (not even so much as i thought it would be) all along I thought it was not right to laugh at something like Hitler's coming back.

Mixed feelings per questo libro che avrebbe dovuto essere "taaaaanto divertente", ma che per tutto il tempo mi ha fatto pensare che non fosse giusto ridere di una cosa terribile come un eventuale ritorno di hitler, o di uno come lui, tipo trump per esempio.

So funny specially because is full of stereotypes and soooo politically incorrect! I think that if you are not German but you have to live here, you will probably love this book, or at last so it was for me. There is a little bit of comfort in number.

Divertentissimo, specialmente perché é la sagra dello stereotipo ed é totalmente politicamente scorretto. Se sei uno straniero, ma devi vivere in Germania é possibile che questo libro ti piaccia tanto, o almeno cosí é stato per m, c'é del conforto nei numeri e sapere che siamo in tanti a pensare che ci sia qualcosa di fondamentalmente strano in questo popolo é confortante.

It is not the first book that I read in the genre, so I would say that this is fully integrated in the mainstream: GDR, Stasi and socialism in the 28 year life of the wall. In reality I would be interested to know a little more of the years between the end of the Second World War and the building of the wall, because it is a relatively neglected period in which the number of spies in Berlin was very high.

Non é il primo libro che leggo sul genere, quindi direi che anche questo rientra a pieno titolo nel filone: GDR, Stasi e socialismo nei 28 anni di durata del muro. Attualmente mi sarebbe in realtá interessato sapere un po' di piú degli anni tra la fine della seconda guerra mondiale e la costruzione del muro, perché é un periodo relativamente ignorato nel quale il numero di spie a Berlino era altissimo.

Als ich dieses Buch gelesen habe, habe ich an Oblomov gedacht, nur viel viel Schlimmeres: Der Protagonist lässt sich nur leben, weil der beschleunigte Tod eine zu große Aufgabe wäre, ebenso wie das Leben. Es lässt dich denken, aber es ist kein sehr angenehmes Buch.

Quando ho letto questo libro ho pensato ad Oblomov, solo molto molto peggio.Il protagonista si lascia vivere solo perché accelerare la morte sarebbe uno sforzo troppo grande, come anche vivere. Fa pensare ma non é un libro tanto piacevole.

Dieses Buch ist eine wunderbare Antwort auf die Frage: Es ist Pflicht, ernst zu sein, um über ernste Dinge zu sprechen. Der Autor ist sehr gut darin, die Probleme der Gesellschaft mit lustigen Charakteren zu beschreiben, ohne dass leicht sein die Last wegzunehmen. Schönes Buch!

Questo libro é una splendida risposta alla domanda: é obbligatorio essere seri per parlare di cose serie. L'autrice riesce benissimo a descrivere i problemi della societá utilizzando personaggi divertenti, senza che l'essere lievi tolga peso ai problemi. Bel libro!

Buch schwierig, vor allem wie es geschrieben ist, aber ich denke auch, dass dies der dritte Band einer Trilogie ist, die ich nicht kannte und vielleicht das ist die Grunde warum ich nicht es so gut verstanden habe ....

Libro difficile, soprattutto per come é scritto, ma mi piace pensare sia anche dovuto al fatto che questo é il terzo volume di una trilogia, cosa che non sapevo e forse per questo non ho capito poi tanto bene....

Die Idee war nicht schlecht, gerade in diesen Tagen, um die Europäische Union in den Mittelpunkt von allem zu stellen, ist weder einfach noch offensichtlich, schade, dass ich aufgrund meines Deutschs das Buch nicht so schätzen konnte, wie ich es wollte.

L'idea non era male, specialmente di questi tempi mettere l'Unione Europea al centro di tutto non é né semplice né scontato, peccato che a causa sicuramente del mio tedesco, non sono riuscita ad apprezzare il libro quanto avrei voluto.

Merkwürdiges Buch, das mich an ein Krimi erinnerte, das ich vor langer Zeit gelesen habe, aber das ich definitiv weniger mochte. Es bleibt jedoch eine beunruhigende Lektüre.

Libro strano che mi ha ricordato un giallo che ho letto tanto tempo fa, ma che mi é piaciuto sicuramente di meno. Resta comunque una lettura inquietante.

Manche Geschichten sind lustig, andere nicht so, ein Paar habe ich nicht verstanden, aber es ist sicher meine Schuld. Aber ich gebe zu, dass mir Auerhaus mehr gefallen hat. Viel mehr.

Alcuni racconti sono divertenti, altri insomma, un paio non li ho proprio capiti, ma sicuramente é colpa del mio tedesco. Ammetto peró che Auerhaus mi era piaciuto di piú. Parecchio di piú.

Il primo era stato un po' piú divertente, anche perché non conoscevo né l'ambientazione né altro; questo secondo volume ci permette di approfondire meglio alcuni personaggi giá conosciuti e ne introduce di nuovi, purtroppo portando con sé l'inevitabile triangolo tipico degli YA che tanto temevo. È un problema mio, io li odio gli YA, ma questo di Fabio lo leggeró fino alla fine (se resto viva chiaro), anche perché lo ha ambientato in un contesto che mi piace parecchio, se voi invece non avete problemi con gli YA, io questa serie l'ho trovata decisamente migliore degli Hunger Games, molto piú scorrevole e meno mentalpipposa.

The Course of Love: A Novel by Alain de Botton

This is a novel with footnotes about love, marriage, expectations, children an the psychological theory of the attachment. Interesting even if sometimes the sadness and the eventually truthiness of most of the situations depicted by the author and his explanations had, in a way, ruined the book for me, but I'm sure that if you are not some sort of psychologist you will like the book.

Questo é un romanzo con note a margine sull'amore, il matrimonio, le aspettative, i figli e la teoria psicologica dell'attaccamento. Interessante anche se a volte la tristezza e la profonda veritá di alcune situazioni e delle spiegazioni date dall'autore mi hanno rovinato il libro, ma sono sicura che se non siete qualche tipo di psicologo, sarete in grado di apprezzare il volume molto piú di me.

The Ukrainian and Russian Notebooks: Life and Death Under Soviet Rule by Igort

Reading this graphic novel was almost unbearable. Igort starts describing the Russian politic towards Ukrain during Stalin's period and the big famine that was induced by him, when almost 5 millions people disappeared, and this is only the Ukranina Notebooks, which is sad, but in a way far, because it was a long time ago. Then the Russian Notebooks, which are about Anna Politkovskaja and the two Chechen wars, and in that moment I thought I couldn't keep on reading. I had the same problem with Svetlana Aleksievic 's books, it's just too much pain. The story then has its own circular conclusion with information about the Ukrainian war that is happening right now. I think that it's necessary that a lot of people read this story, but I'm not sure if it's possible.

Leggere questa graphic novel é stato quasi insopportabile. Igort comincia descrivendo la politica di Stalin nei confronti dell'Ucraina, quando la carestia che aveva provocato assieme alla deportazione in Siberia, fece scendere la popolazione da piú di 6 milioni a meno di 200.000 persone; e questo viene detto nei taccuini Ucraini, dopo di ché si passa a quelli Russi. Si esordisce con Anna Politkovskaja e le due guerre cecene, e a quel punto ho pensato che avrei smesso, che non ce la facevo, era come quando stavo leggendo i libri della Aleksievic, il dolore era veramente troppo. La storia poi l'ho finita, nella sua conclusione circolare con le ultime notizie sulla guerra fratricida in Ucraina che sta accadendo ora. Sarebbe proprio necessario che molta gente leggesse questa storia, ma ho dei seri dubbi che sia possibile.

I like Jennifer Haymore and her Higland Knights, but I love more a female author in the Regency era, so this book goes straight to my heart, because it was also a well written and nice reading.

Mi piace molto Jennifer Haymore e i suoi Highland Kinghts, ma ancora di piú mi piacciono le scrittrici nell'era Regency, per questo, e per il fatto che é ben scritto e divertente, questo libro é quasi perfetto per molti versi.

This book addresses Nothingness from different point of view and if the first four chapter are analyzing it as a part of a developmental process, the others do that from a cultural and empirical point of view. I cannot say really nothing more about that because it was a book too complex for me.

Nice pictures and I appreciated that there were both German and English explanations. Interesting and makes you think more about animals and plants even if you live in a big city like I do.

Belle foto e soprattutto ho apprezzato il fatto che il libro fosse bilingue, anche perché il mio tedesco é sempre piuttosto scarso. Il libro é interessante e fa riflettere sugli animali e sulle piante anche se si vive in cittá, come nel mio caso.
