This book is a deadly bore, I fell asleep many times (two of which on the subway) while reading it even if I jump around the page. My first meeting with Heinlein had been Starship Troopers and it hadn't made me happy, for Stranger in a stranger Land I had appreciated the effort, but I would have cut it a lot; this story could be way shorter, but it would have been an illegible book anyway. I would say that I tried, but with Heinlein no more.

Questo libro é di una noia mortale, e anche saltando parecchie pagine mi sono addormentata tante volte mentre lo leggevo, di cui due in metropolitana. Il mio primo incontro con Heinlein era stato Starship Troopers e non mi aveva fatto impazzire, per Stranger in a stranger Land avevo apprezzato lo sforzo, ma lo avrei accorciato parecchio; questo qua poteva essere meno della metá, ma sarebbe stato comunque un libro illegibile. Direi che io ci ho provato, ma per quanto riguarda Heinlein la pratica é chiusa.

Mi é piaciuto questo libro che non insiste sulla forza di volontá, o assenza della stessa nel mio caso, per offrire una serie di consigli facili e veloci per cercare di mangiare meglio, limitare lo stress ed eventualmente dimagrire o rimettersi in forma.

Mi aspettavo davvero qualcosa di meglio, i due protagonisti sono talmente impegnati a rimuginare sempre sugli stessi pensieri che non succede praticamente niente e quello che succede é noioso. Devo ancora decidere se leggere o meno il prossimo, magari anche solo perché é l'ultimo libro.....

Interessante se posto nella giusta ottica e periodo storica, cosa favorita dalla perfetta introduzione.

Another great book by Colson Whitehead, and this is also based on a real story, without the railway..... The lives of the black boys could take a wrong turn in that time, a wrong turn that ended deadly. We see the life of Elwood Curtis in Tallahasee (Florida) just at the beginning of the ´50, where the young boy grows up with his granny listening to Martin Luther King but asks for a lift to the wrong person.

Un altro grande libro di Colson Whitehead, anche questo basato su una storia vera, ma senza la ferrovia....Le vite dei ragazzi neri potevano prendere una brutta piega in un attimo nella Florida degli anni '50, talmente brutta da finire al cimitero dei senza nome. Leggiamo la storia di Elwood Curtis, che cresce dopo la seconda guerra mondiale con la nonna a Tallahasee in Florida ascoltando Martin Luther King, ma che purtroppo chiede un passaggio alla persona sbagliata.

What a ride this book has been, even if sometimes there was not so much tension, I couldn't wait to read it till the end, and now I feel a Green Bone too! We keep on following the steps of Hilo a the Pillar and Shae als Weather Man of the No peak Clan. Anden has a different life and so does some of our old friends and enemies, in the same time the world around them is changing and they have to adapt to survive, plus Ayt of the Mountain is not giving up on whispering their names.....Looking forward for the last installment!

Che giostra questo libro, anche se a volte c'erano dei cali di tensione, non riuscivo a smettere di leggerlo e ora anche io mi sento un green bone! Continuiamo a seguire i passi di Hilo come Pillar e Shae come Weather Man del clan No peak. Anden ha una sua vita in Espenia e anche altri tra i nostri amici e nemici continuano a tramare, inoltre le guerre nel mondo intorno a loro li spingono a diversificare i loro investimenti mentre Ayt, chiaramente, non smette di sussurrare i loro nomi....Non vedo l'ora di leggere l'ultimo volume della serie!

I love this guy, he could be one of the reason why writers could help this world not to implode with wars, racism, religious issues and so on. His essays are so easy to read but at the same time so deep, that even things not so important could help you think about the difference between people and population.

Io lo adoro Mohsin Hamid, lui, assieme ad altri scrittori, potrebbero aiutare il mondo a non implodere sotto il peso di gueere, razzismi vari e problemi di origine religiosa, tanto per dirne alcuni. I suoi saggi sono cosí facili da leggere, ma allo stesso tempo cosí profondi da sottolineare attraverso le descrizioni di cose semplici le grandi differenze che ci sono tra le persone e le popolazioni.

In this third book, however, there is too much space taken by her relationship with Clive and all in all in all I would have preferred more action and adventure. We'll see how it continues the series, but I hope for a return to the good old days.

I primi due libri mi erano piaciuti di piú, il mondo di Rowan é affascinante e lei é una donna tosta. In questo terzo libro peró, l'avventura lascia spazio, anche troppo, alla sua relazione con Clive e tutto sommato a tutti i deliri intimisti avrei preferito piú azione ed avventura. Staremo a vedere come continua la serie, ma spero che si torni ai bei vecchi tempi.

As a lover of everything brain related I am just very happy that there are more books similar to the ones Sacks used to write.

Il Dr. Leschziner é il primo ad ammettere l'importanza che hanno avuto per lui i libri ed il lavoro di Oliver Sacks, cosa che poi emerge chiaramente dalla lettura di questo libro nel modo in cui descrive i suoi pazienti e i loro sintomi. Da lettrice appassionata di tutto quello che ha a che fare con il cervello, non posso che giovare del fatto che ci siano altre persone che scrivano libri simili a quelli di Sacks.

This one was the worst of the three in my opinion, but it came to an end (a conclusive, plot twist free and no drama end) and I appreciate that. As I said before this is not a genre I am used to read and the first book with all the bullying was complicated, but it was worthy to reach the last book.

Questo libro é sicuramente il peggiore tra i tre, secondo me, ma il fatto stesso che porti la trilogia ad un finale che non é incredibile, che non apra le porta ad eventuali sequel e che sia privo di dramma, lo rende comunque apprezzabilissimo ai miei occhi. Come giá detto questo genere non mi appartiene e specialmente il primo volume con tutto il bullismo che conteneva é stato particolarmente difficile da leggere, ma sono contenta di aver finito la serie.

This story tells the life of Jake, whose life in the southern United States is not an easy one, he is considered an idiot and after the death of the mother is also hospitalized. The author still has the ability to tell a story without getting too dramatic or emphasize sad things, as it seems to us that all things considered, at least at times, Jake is also happy. However, even if it is beautiful written, the story is tragic and heartbreaking.

Questa storia racconta la vita di Jake, la cui vita nel sud degli Stati Uniti non é certo facile, lui é considerato un idiota e dopo la morte della madre viene anche ospedalizzato. L'autrice ha comunque la capacitá di raccontare senza diventare troppo drammatica o enfatizzare le cose piú tristi, quasi ci sembra che tutto sommato, almeno a tratti, Jake sia anche felice. Comunque sia, per quanto bella, la storia resta drammatica e straziante.

I couldn't finish it. Sorry but the Nordic Gods in the end were the one I read before in Byatt, Gaiman and Kevin Hearne of course. I had great expectations from this book, due to the fact that I love Tom Hiddleston mostly, so I was sadly disappointed to meet "yours truly" acting like an idiot teenager. It is ok, I didn't really need another series to read, I am just sorry that I had to read this one for my book club....

Non l'ho finito, mi spiace ma per quanto mi riguarda gli dei nordici sono quelli che ho letto nei libri della Byatt, di Gaiman e naturalmente di Kevin Hearne. Avevo inoltre grosse aspettative anche perché sono una groupie di Tom Hiddleton, quindi il rammarico é doppio perché il personaggio di questo libro parla e si comporta come un adolescente inquieto. Comunque il lato positivo é che non avevo assolutamente bisogno di impelagarmi in un'altra serie....ma non andró alla discussione del mio book club.

Despite this, however, the author recounts their meetings the evolution of their relationship with a lot of delicacy, and knowing that the novel is based, at least in part, on the relationship of the writer with Faulkner, makes it even more believable.

Il racconto di questa giovane donna, che conosce ed impara ad amare il suo autore preferito, piú grande di lei di 30 anni e giá sposato, é una storia con un finale giá scritto. Nonostante questo peró, l'autrice racconta con molta delicatezza i loro incontri, l'evoluzione del loro rapporto e sapere che il romanzo si basa, quanto meno in parte, sulla relazione della scrittrice con Faulkner, rende il tutto ancora piú credibile.

I admit that I expected a science fiction story, I mean, we're talking about Aldiss here, but instead I found myself re-reading Sophocles and to be precise the "Oedipus the King" and "Antigone", the fact is that no matter how different these two stories from the original version are, they are just beautiful and even if he made some change, especially the end of Antigone, this book is absolutely a must read.

Ammetto che mi aspettavo un racconto di fantascienza, voglio dire, stiamo parlando di Aldiss qui, ma invece mi sono trovata una rilettura di Sofocle e per essere precisi l'"Edipo re" e l'"Antigone", fatto sta che per quanto diverse dall'originale queste due storie nella versione di Aldiss sono proprio belle e anche riviste, specialmente il finale dell'Antigone. Da leggere.

Pretty strange comics, a perfect mix between a manga and a super hero comic from the '60. I couldn't stop laughing at the name chosen for the super villains anyway and there's more than a bromance between batman and Robin ;) An "interesting" reading but it's only for Batman's super fan.

Uno strano fumetto, a metá strada tra un manga e un giornaletto di supereroi degli anni '60. Inoltre non potevo smettere di ridere di fronte ai nomi scelti per i super cattivi e nemici di Batman e inoltre, c'é molto piú di quello che sembra tra Batman&Robin ;) Una lettura "interessante", ma consigliabile solo ai super Fan di Batman.

Since she is one of the most popular writers in the paranormal romance world, it is clear that the problem is mine, but again the book for me was so boring and the idea that there are three other brothers to read about scares me .....

Ci deve essere qualche problema tra me e Jacquelyn Frank, perché tutto il mondo lo adora e io la trovo sempre piú noiosa. Questa é l'ennesima serie che comincio scritta da lei e anche stavolta ho la certezza assoluta che non proseguiró. Considerato che lei é una delle scrittrici piú apprezzate nell'ambito del paranormal romance é chiaro che il problema é mio, ma anche stavolta il libro per me é stato di una noia mortale e l'idea che ci siano altri tre fratelli mi spaventa....

I liked this third volume in the series of the Dresden Files, it is good like the first, and much more of the second installment, perhaps because I like the ghosts much more than the werewolves. Here Harry must defend himself against a spirit that invades the dreams and is therefore very dangerous, his affair with Susan evolves and we also get to know Michael, the unforgettable knight of the cross. Who knows if in the future we will meet again Thomas, vampire maltreated by all but quite charming.

Questo terzo volume nella serie dei Dresden Files mi é piaciuto come il primo, ergo piú del secondo, forse perché i fantasmi mi stanno molto piú simpatici dei lupi mannari. Qui Harry deve difendersi da una uno spirito che invade i sogni ed é quindi molto pericoloso, la sua storia con Susan evolve e conosciamo anche Michael indimenticabile cavaliere della croce. Chissá se in futuro incontreremo di nuovo anche Thomas, vampiro bistrattato da tutti ma decisamente affascinante.

Absolutely loved it!
I've read all of Mrs. Dawn books and she delivers every. damn. time.
I adored Trixie sass and how she interacts with the Royals. As for her mate... well... let's just say that enemy to lovers is one of my favorite tropes and I just hope Scarlett will not kill him off, because she is famous for killing mates in practically all her books. I can't wait for the next book, because we are still at the enemy who barely tolerates each other stage. I want to see the arrogant shifter king falling! Go Trixie!

I love Sara Ramsey's books, I love her heroine, never banal and obvious, and I love her Heroes, never too Alpha to become A$$..le. So I loved this book too, I was already fascinated by the supervillain Duke of Thorns from the last book and I was so happy when I knew that this book was out. I read it in 3 hours, and now I'm terribly sad to wait more than 6 months for the next installment in this series, and I already love Rafe....

Adoro i libri di Sara Ramsey, mi picciono le sue eroine, mai banali e ovvie, e mi piacciono i suoi maschi che non sono mai troppo alfa per diventare insopportabili. Quindi anche questo libro mi é piaciuto e giá mi ero innamorata del Duca di Thorns nel libro precedente e sono stata felicissima quando ho scoperto che era uscito questo libro. L'ho letto in tre ore e ora sono molto triste perché dovró affrontare piú di sei mesi per il prossimo e giá mi piace Rafe....

Non sono molto recenti e piú volte ci sono ripetizioni in quanto l'autore li ha scritti in tempi differenti e solo dopo li ha raccolti, ció non toglie che per chi sia interessato all'argomento resta il libro migliore che ho letto fino ad ora.
