This book was not bad, and by now I'm quite used to the Cabot sisters, but in some way it was too complicated, the various adventures of Roan and Prudence, even if only momentary, seemed to me excessive and the end perhaps too fast. Now I only have Mercy to wait for and I hope not too long.

Questo libro non era male, io ormai poi alle sorelle Cabot mi ci sono abituata, peró in qualche modo é stato troppo complicato, le varie peripezie di Roan e Prudence anche se solo momentanee, mi sono sembrate eccessive e il finale forse troppo accelerato. Ora mi resta solo Mercy e speriamo di non dover aspettare tanto.

Zola Neale Hurston has long been one of my favorite writers and even this collection of stories has not disappointed me. I admit the usual difficulty in understanding the language spoken in direct speech, which most of the time I can only intuit, but her stories are, once again, memorable and they make me imagine almost perfectly that America of a century ago.

Zola Neale Hurston é da tempo una delle mie scrittrici preferite e anche questa sua raccolta di storie non mi ha deluso. Ammetto la solita difficoltá nel comprendere la lingua parlata nei discorsi diretti, che il piú delle volte mi limito ad intuire, ció non toglie che i suoi racconti sono, ancora una volta, memorabili e riescono a farmi immaginare in modo quasi perfetto quell'America di un secolo fa.

There are a lor of scientific explanations and not so many recipes so if you are looking for a cookbook you may be disappointed, but if you are looking for a reason to follow a ketogenetic diet, you may find all the answers here.

Molto interessante e scritto appositamente per le donne, questo libro esplora i molteplici benefici di una dieta chetogenica e tutte le eventuali implicazioni che questo potrebbe avere. Ci sono molte spiegazioni scientifiche, ma non tante ricette, quindi se state cercando una serie di ricette potreste rimanerci male, ma se invece siete alla ricerca di una dieta scientificamente supportata, questo libro potrebbe rispondere a molte delle vostre domande, specialmente se siete delle donne.

Mi annovero tra coloro che amano i libri e credo che per noi cultori della materia, poche cose siano migliori di un libro che parla di libri, come in questo caso. Martin Amis si lega a filo doppio con suo padre e con Eco tra coloro i quali scrivono migliori saggi piuttosto che romanzi e questa raccolta delle sue recensioni per "The Guardian" su alcuni dei "mostri sacri" del 1900 é un libro fantastico. Mi ha dato la possibilitá di scoprire nuovi libri, quelli di Rushdie, Capote e Bellow tanto per dirne alcuni, e approfondire vecchi amori come Nabakov, Roth, Updike e De Lillo. Cosa vuoi di piú dalla vita? Un Burroughs o un Ballard?

La prima volta che l'ho letto non mi ha disturbato tanto quanto questa, forse perché non ero ancora diventata mamma. Stavolta arrivare in fondo mi é costato molto di piú, nonostante sia scritto in modo eccezionale. La storia si conosce, ma sarebbe il caso di fare piú attenzione alle descrizioni delle sensazioni, degli stati d'animo e anche dei luoghi, perché Nabakov é stato uno dei migliori scrittori del mondo e credo lo rimarrá per sempre. Lolita, luce della mia vita, fuoco dei miei lombi.

Fantastic book, totally hilarious and full of interesting facts and anecdotes scientifically explained with pictures and jokes. Probably the best way to get kids interested in science and adults too. Go straight to the paper version because with so many pictures it is better not to wait to much for every page to load.

Libro fantastico, assolutamente divertente e pieno di fatti ed aneddoti spiegati scientificamente attraverso disegni e battute spiritose. Probabilmente il miglior modo per interessare i bambini alla scienza, e forse anche gli adulti. Consiglio la versione cartacea del libro perché tutte le immagini rendono il libro in formato elettronico di difficile fruizione.

I am a little bit disappointed by this book, because I thought that it would have taken its examples from books, but it is mostly all about movies and I am not a movie expert. So I am sure that I would have enjoyed the book a lot more if I knew the films that it was talking about, but it was not like that and in the end it was boring.

Sono un po' delusa da questo libro, perché pensavo che avrebbe fatto esempi tratti dai libri, mentre in effetti ha parlato quasi esclusivamente di film, e io non ne conoscevo praticamente nessuno con l'esclusione di Mad Max. Quindi sono sicura che se fossi stata una cinefila avrei apprezzato sicuramente questo saggio molto di piú, ma non é stato cosí e mi sono anche annoiata.

I think that this new trend of books that use Mindfullness not to diet but to understand the "hunger", are so much better than "normal diet books" that give always a lot of recipe but they do not really help people to understand why the eat what they eat or the way they eat. So I loved this one also and found it clear and full of easy tips that usually are not directly related to food.

Penso che questo nuovo filone che utilizza la mindfulness non tanto per fare la dieta, quanto piuttosto per comprendere le ragioni dietro la nostra fame, sono molto piú utili (e interessanti) dei normali libri per le diete che sono in circolazione, pieni di ricette ma che non affrontano il problema dell'educazione alimentare. Quindi anche questo mi é piaciuto, perché chiaro e pieno di utili trucchi che di solito, non sono direttamente collegati al cibo.
