The Narrow Road to the Deep North by Richard Flanagan

The Narrow Road to the Deep North

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Not all the sad books are good, but most of the good books are sad. That said the 2014 Man Booker Prize-winning novel is worthwhile reading even if it is poignant. The story of a surgeon, his years as a prisoner of war, the women who are waiting for his return, the family that builds and saves and as, in all of this, the love to him is always denied. Handle with care, could induce deep reflections.
