A Purely Private Matter (Rosalind Thorne Mysteries, #2) by Darcie Wilde

A Purely Private Matter (Rosalind Thorne Mysteries, #2)A Purely Private Matter by Darcie Wilde
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I liked the first installment in this series a little bit more, this one was boring from time to time. We saw the same love triangle going on with a little news from the family side of Rosalind. Not sure I will keep on reading.

Death in the Stars (Kate Shackleton, #9) by Frances Brody

Death in the Stars (Kate Shackleton, #9)Death in the Stars by Frances Brody
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I don't know why, but I didn't like this installment in one series that is usually one of my favorite. Slow, boring and even the culprit in the end was not sooo believable. I'm disappointed but ok, maybe it's my fault.

Garden of Lies by Amanda Quick

Garden of Lies

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I'm a sucker for Victorian novel and this one has the right mix of suspance and love, so I was a goner after 10 pages. The plot is thick and the characters well depicted, plus they have chemistry together. Ursula is a free woman, as far as that age consents, but Slater is even better, the dark knight in the shiny armor and their story is as good as in any romance.

Who Buries the Dead (Sebastian St. Cyr #10) by C.S. Harris

Who Buries the Dead (Sebastian St. Cyr #10)

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I love Devlin, I love Hero and I love Jervis also, I know I'm not normal, specially about this last one; I actually prefer Sebastain since he has married Hero and she is just as strong as he is. In this new investigation we have disappearing heads, forgotten brother, coast mongers and kings, kings everywhere. I'm soooo looking forward to the next book where we may find some new information about my favorite Viscount's past.

OUT NOW!

Disappearance at Oare (Whitstable Pearl Mysteries)Disappearance at Oare by Julie Wassmer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A turn to the dark side for one of my favorite series of cozy mystery. This time Pearl has to find a missing person, who has been missed for almost 7 years and it is not easy. The same old characters are going to help her to solve or maybe not a long time disappearance.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

My Purple Scented Novel

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

There is something magical in the way that some author are able to write a short story that has a great impact as this one had on me. Thing is, even if you spend 15 minutes to read it, then you will keep on thinking about that forever, isn't that a great ability to have?

L'anello mancante

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Ora vediamo come va a finire.

Die Ermordung des Commendatore 2: Eine Metapher wandelt sich

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

The Traitor's Niche

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Surprisingly beautiful, not for the author, but for the topic of the book. A very dense novel about the Ottoman empire.

THANKS EDELWEISS FOR THE PREVIEW!

Breathless
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I liked this book, even if it was about the plot than the characters, their romance and their eventual interaction. I was totally captivated by the story that was going on in the past so I was slightly disappointed but in the end it was a good and enjoyable reading.

May Day Murder (Whitstable Pearl Mysteries) by Julie Wassmer

May Day Murder (Whitstable Pearl Mysteries)May Day Murder by Julie Wassmer
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Another enjoyable reading by Julie Wassmer, whose Pearl is getting on with her life but still people die around her ;) This time we have Faye, the long time gone star of Whitstable, coming back for a screening and dying for some inexplicable reason. The usual friend are there: Dolly, Charlie and of course DCI Mike McGuire, and some other characters whom may, or may not, be involved in the case. The tension is high in the village and in the life of Pearl, so be ready for the ride!

A death in the dales by Frances Brody

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Frances Brody tells of the times when, after the end of World War II, have a woman driving through the countryside in English was a source of wonder, imagine if the same woman began to solve mysteries; this time the mystery goes back many years, when the owner of an inn is killed by what looks like the perfect culprit. Freda, the aunt of Lucian, however, has witnessed it all and has always claimed that they had blamed the wrong person, who had been an innocent end up on the gallows, but until her death no one had ever believed her. When Kate and her niece Harriet travelled to the old cottage Freda for a vacation do however soon to realize that things in Langcliffe are much more complicated than they seem. A nice cozy mystery where we have three different plots developing at the same time, but in the end I was a little disappointed because I didn't get the end I wanted.

Murder-on-sea by Julie Wassmer

Murder on SeaMurder on Sea by Julie Wassmer
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is the second book I read by Julie Wassmer and I think that she is getting better at describing people and places, but this time the plot was not so gripping like the first one.
We have the old Characters and some new one that are all involved in Christmas preparations and also McGuire is back for the joy of Pearl and mine also. There as spiteful messages coming to some of the most prominent people of the village but Pearl has too much to do to get a case before the festivities, also Charlie is coming back from Berlin, but in the middle of a Celebration in St Alfred's Church a guest dies and so this postcards appears to be something completely different from anonymous insults.
I like the plot and the way the author finds a way to explain the whole mess, but problem was that the solution was a little too twisted for me. Anyway this is a real good cozy mistery and I'm going to read the next one also, even because I'm waiting to see what is going to happen between the 2 "Detectives".

Clara from Orbit has struck again, it was clear that for a person like me who rightly consider herself an "avid reader", or a voracious reader if you prefer, a title like that could not go unnoticed and here we are then to review what is the sixth installment in a series that unfortunately I did not know, but I immediately liked.
First of all the setting in Yorkshire a few years after the end of World War I is very charming. Visiting through the eyes of the author this Leeds of the beginning of the century, with the tram going up in the fog, the first-class coaches of the train to go to London, men surprised that a woman driving around alone, the old butlers and ladies with veils makes it very much more interesting than any crime occurred on the present day. But do not imagine a little Miss Marple, far from it. Kate is 32 years old, is a war widow and with his cop friend Skyes is a renowned detective and now is called by Lady Coulton to find a daughter given up for adoption, because she was born outside of the marriage bond.
Lady Coulton had a lover, but is now determined to find this only daughter and instructs Kate, but she has a hard time because in the middle of her research she finds herself involved in a murder much more close to home. In fact it is found dead in the basement of the library, one of the patrons of the library itself, and next to his body, there is also an itinerant organist dying from pneumonia.
What, for the handsome police inspector Wallis, is a case already solved, it remains to Kate on the other hand, full of doubts and questions, and especially she has the "momentary adoption" of the organist's monkey, Percy, who takes refuge in the car of detective to escape the confusion. With what may be the only witness to the incident in the guise of a primate, Kate and Sykes are to investigate the past and present of those who are friends and fellow citizens, many of whom do not appreciate the intrusion.
One of the best Cozy mystery in circulation for me, because the setting is the cause of at least half of the success of the novel. It made me want to read the 5 books that precede it, and above all see the progress of the detective Kate in her next adventure!
