I have to admit that "Enemies to Lovers" is one of my favorite topos so I was already biased for this book. In the end so, it is not such a great surprise that I liked the plot and the characters, I am just sorry that I began this series from the 6th Installment....

Devo ammettere che il topos "da nemici ad amanti" é uno dei miei preferiti, non c'è quindi da stupirsi che il libro mi sia piaciuto, sia per la trama che per i personaggi; il mio unico rammarico é che ho cominciato questa serie dal sesto libro....

Last time I read about these angels, boring, ubermacho and always the same plot. I was wondering about quitting the Lords of the Underworld series also, maybe I read the last one because Torin was one of the originals but I have to think about that.

Stavo pensando ormai da tempo di lasciare perdere anche la serie originale (Lords of the Underworld) ma penso di leggere almeno l'ultimo libro, quello su Torin, perché lui era uno degli originali, ma ci devo riflettere.

Vers strange book, I cannot say that I didn't like it, but I am not so sure that I liked it so much, but at last I read all its 348 pages, which is already something.
I didn't even like the characters so much, with Claude the only exception, but I have to admit that all along the pages I was wondering where the author was going, and still I was surprised in the end. A remarkable book in many ways.

Libro veramente strano, non posso dire che mi sia piaciuto, ma nemmeno che non mi sia piaciuto, considerato che ho letto tutte le 348 pagine, ed é giá qualcosa.
Neanche i personaggi, con l'eccezione di Claude, mi stavano particolarmente simpatici - e nel frattempo non smettevo di chiedermi dove voleva andare a parare l'autrice - e comunque, nonostante tutto, sono rimasta molto sorpresa dal finale, quindi direi un libro notevole.

At last this short story has a beginning and an end, and it was also not bad, I mean the idea was pretty cool even if, due to the fact that it was a novella, it was used way too fast, but I wouldn't mind meeting Andrea and Sebastian again in the future...or maybe in the past :)

Almeno questa storia ha un inizio ed una fine, e non é manco brutta, anzi, soprattutto l'idea della trama non é niente male, purtroppo peró, siccome era una novella, "si brucia in fretta", ma non mi dispiacerebbe rincontrare Andrea e Sebastian in futuro, o anche in passato ;)

It`s surely my fault but it seems that I have to shift to urban fantasy to read something worthy because paranormal romance has written already everything it has to be written.

E alla fine anche questa serie é arrivata alla fine e la cosa mi riempie di gioia infinita perché proprio non ne posso piú di angeli, demoni e mutaforma e vampiri etc. Sicuramente é colpa mia, ma è chiaro che é ora per me di passare all'urban fantasy perché il paranormal romance ha giá detto tutto quello che poteva dire.

Life, the universe and everything, that is the famous book by Douglas Coupland, could well be the subtitle of this book by Brian Green, where he writes about religion, physics, biology, philosophy, history, mathematics, chemistry and in short practically about all there is, to arrive almost at a theory of everything, which - even if it is not what physicists have been looking for in the last 30 years- is certainly a global vision of what has happened so far and why we have found ourselves in the here and now.

La vita, l'universo e tutto quanto, ovvero il famoso libro di Douglas Coupland, potrebbe benissimo essere il sottotitolo di questo libro di Brian Green, dove si parla di religione, fisica, biologia, filosofia, storia, matematica, chimica e insomma praticamente non avanza niente, per arrivare quasi ad una teoria del tutto, che anche se non é quella che i fisici stanno cercando da tempo, sicuramente é una visione globale di quanto accaduto finora e di come mai ci siamo trovati nel qui ed ora.

Till the forth chapter I understood everything, then everything became nebulous like the electrons around the nucleus :) Anyway even if I struggled trough the book, it was one very well explained book and one of the easiest to read about the subject.

Fino al quarto capitolo avevo capito tutto, poi é diventato tutto confuso e nebuloso, come gli elettroni intorno al nucleo ;) Comunque, anche se piú a fatica, era decisamente un libro ben spiegato questo, specialmente se paragonato ad altri che ho letto in precedenza.

I knew that the "African Mythology" was not my cup of tea, I already read some other books about the same topic more or less (Dust, The Icarus girl) and every time my ignorance about the subject didn't let me appreciate the story and this time happened the same thing, again. The plot is also unbelievably sad and close to some of the tales I heard or knew due to my job as a psychotherapist, which is also put the whole novel very far from a work of fiction in my mind.

Sapevo che la mitologia africana di solito é un argomento che non mi piace, avevo giá letto altri libri sullo stesso argomento in passato (Dust, The Icarus girl) e la mia assoluta ignoranza sull'argomenti mi aveva sempre impedito di godermi la storia, esattamente come in questo caso. Inoltre il romanzo é triste e fin troppo simile alle storie che ho conosciuto o ascoltato per via del mio lavoro come psicoterapeuta, quindi difficilmente lo avrei potuto apprezzare dal punto di vista della fiction.

Very beautiful this collection of thought of the venerable Sumansara, Buddhist Monk. The analysis of the anger in its various forms and the difference that the Buddhists and the West in the mode to manage it, were for me two of the key things that I learned from this book. Clear and full of useful tips to recognize and deal with the anger for what it is i.e. a destructive emotion.

Molto bella questa raccolta del pensiero del venerabile Sumansara, monaco buddista. L'analisi della rabbia nelle sue varie forme e la differenza che i buddisti e l'occidente mettono in luce nella modalitá di gestirla, sono state per me due tra le cose fondamentali che ho imparato da questo libro. Chiaro e pieno di utili suggerimenti per riconoscere e trattare la rabbia per quello che é e cioé un'emozione distruttiva.

È tornato il gorilla e durante la sua assenza dagli scaffali delle librerie, "Il socio" é stato molto impegnato e ha riportato Alex a Milano. Peccato non conoscere tutti i palazzi e i luoghi di cui parla Dazieri, perché la cittá é anche protagonista di questo libro amarissimo e noir.
La vittima é un amico, le vittime collaterali arrivano dopo, i colpevoli sono tanti, insomma un giallo sui generis, ma a questo Dazieri ci ha abituato da tempo.
Sono dell'idea che questo sará di nuovo il primo di una lunga serie di libri, ma intanto vado a finire la trilogia di Colomba (se di trilogia si parla).

This is not a novel, this could be a workshop about writing mixed with the life of one of my favorite author ever, so a win win situation for me. Unluckily I do not remember every single short story he wrote - but not Guts, never Guts - so I missed some references, but it was a very enjoyable reading and a recommended one for every one who wants to write his own novel.

Questo non é un romanzo, ma potrebbe essere la trascrizione di un seminario sulla scrittura tenuto da uno dei miei autori preferiti, intervallati da pezzi della sua vita, quindi per quanto mi riguarda, un grandissimo successo. Purtroppo non mi ricordo ogni singola storia che Palahniuk ha scritto - tranne Guts, nessuno puó scordare Guts - quindi alcuni riferimenti me li sono persi, ma resta una lettura molto interessante, specialmente per chi voglia diventare a sua volta uno scrittore.

Oh il tormento che i personaggi della Gaskell devono passare pur di arrivare alla fine dei loro libri, se ci arrivano, anche perché in alcuni casi sarebbe meglio morissero prima.
A parte gli scherzi, questi due racconti mi mancavano e li ho anche letti in italiano, quindi non posso dire niente, a parte che sembrano ben tradotti, purtroppo il melodramma é veramente troppo e senza speranza, una specie di Verga vittoriano in questo caso, e per quanto mi sforzi, non vedevo l'ora di finire queste poche pagine di sofferenza....Inoltre nella mia copia c'era anche un altro racconto, persino piú angosciante di questo, insomma...preferisco i suoi romanzi piú lunghi.

Douglas Fields is not only an expert of the brain, but also a very funny writer. So this book was not only interesting but pretty enjoyable. I found out a lot of things I didn't know either about the story of neurology (where Italian scientists were also involved) or about the brain itself, and I finally learned how does a Neurofeedback works. I would recommend to everybody that is interested in the brain.

Douglas Field non é soltanto un esperto del cervello, ma anche uno scrittore molto divertente. Quindi questo libro non é stato solo istruttivo, ma anche piacevole da leggere. Ho scoperto molte cose che ignoravo sulla storia della Neurologia (della quale hanno fatto parte anche parecchi italiani, nel bene e nel male) e sul ceervello stesso e le onde dell Elettroencefalogramma, inoltre ho finalmente capito come funziona un Neurofeedback. Consiglierei la lettura di questo libro a tutti coloro che hanno anche un seppur minimo interesse sull'argomento cervello, anche perché tra la tanta letteratura che c'é in giro, questo volume parte da una posizione particolarmente nuova.

Una storia "alternativa" degli alberi, raccontata attraverso la loro scoperta ed il loro utilizzo nel tempo. Bei disegni e ottimi storie per ricordarsi le differenze, per chi come me non ha mai saputo distinguere un albero dall'altro.

Mi piacciono moltissimo le strisce di questa autrice e stavolta il libro mi sembra anche migliore del precedente, piú profondo in certi casi e anche terribilmente divertente, anche perché ci sono passata anche io e ancora mi ricordo come sono state le prime settimane, ma Catana sembra riuscita a far durare i primi mesi molto di piú ;)

A very interesting manual about most of all the classic literature, that means Greek and Latin authors mostly, and their impact on all the other literature that came after them. Clear and exhaustive, my only problem was the English name gave to authors that I've always known with their Latin names. Anyway a good exercise if you forgot your Literature 101 class.

Manuale molto interessante che copre la maggior parte della letteratura classica, da intendersi pricipalmente quella latina e greca e il loro impatto sul resto della letteratura che l'ha seguita. Chiaro ed esaustivo, ma il mio unico problema era leggere di autori con nomi diversi perché anglicizzati. Comunque un buon Bignami se vi siete scordati le prime lezioni di letteratura.

Review: Nightchaser

Fast paced, full of adventure and also love. Sci-fi romance are not your usual romance, at last not this one which is more similar to a Urban fantasy in my opinion. Anyway the writer is able to juggle between a good and believable plot and some strong characters that in the end get together very well. Looking forward to the next one.

Rapido, pieno di avventura e anche amore. Le storie d'amore ambientate nello spazio, o almeno quelle che ho letto io fino ad ora, sono diverse dai soliti romance e assomigliano di piú agli Urban Fantasy, specialmente perché sono sempre molto piú articolati dal punto di vista della "sceneggiatura".
Comunque la scrittrice secondo me riesce a mettere insieme una buona trama ed un set di ottimi personaggi che si mescolano molto bene, ora vado a leggere il secondo immediatamente.

Even if they say this is a stand-alone novel, I would have liked to read the first one because it does not seem fair to me to judge Nexi only by this book, specially because I hate her, God it is not happen so often that I dislike and "heroine" sooo much. Anyway the plot was not bad even if it is not something "new" but still....

Anche se questa puó essere letta come romanzo singolo, mi sarebbe piaciuto aver letto anche il libro che lo precede perché non mi sembra giusto giudicare negativamente il personaggio principale solo sulla base di questo secondo volume. Comunque non mi capita spesso di "odiare" cosí tanto un'eroina di un libro. Per il resto la trama reggeva anche se non é certo una novitá.
