Livre léger et glissant qui se lit sans engagement un après-midi. Chercher à être profondément infructueux, mais peut-être mieux c'est ainsi.

I thought we came to an end with this series, but I was wrong. So now we have the brother of Portia involved in guilt who is in love with Portia's best friend, who loves him back, but can love be stronger than ghosts? It seems so for a long time, but then we got our HEA. Nice story but nothing unforgettable.

Pensavo che questa serie fosse giunta a degna conclusione, e invece mi sbagliavo. Qui i protagonisti sono il fratello di Porzia innamorato della migliore amica della sorella, che lo ricambia, ma il suo senso di colpa, di lui intendo, e tutti i fantasmi del passato sembrano essere molto piú forti dell'amore tra i due. La storia si trascina tra complotti ed intrighi fino a giungere al lieto fine di routine. Storia carina, ma certo non indimenticabile.

This book is not great, especially because as a loyal reader, it is my right to expect something more from Nalini Singh, the same writer of "Kiss of Snow" to be clear, that she has not yet managed to overcome, especially with the book on Kaleb. But let's talk about Ivy and Vasic, whose book we waited for a while. Their situation works, but the book was at last a hundred pages too long, specially the middle. The Honeycomb might work and will do, then it is clear that the next books will be centered on Ming and probably on Aden also. Sadly, there is still a year to wait .....

Libro non eccezionale, specialmente perché da fedeli lettori, é nostro diritto aspettarci qualcosa di piú da Nalini Singh, la stessa scrittrice di "Kiss of Snow" per capirsi, che non é ancora riuscita a superare, specialmente con il libro su Kaleb. Ma veniamo a Ivy e Vasic, il cui libro attendevamo da un po'. La loro coppia funziona, ma avrei levato un centinaio di pagine, quanto meno dalla parte centrale. La Honeycomb potrebbe funzionare e lo fará quindi é chiaro che il/i prossimi libri saranno centrati sull'eleminiazione di Ming e probabilmente su Aden. Purtroppo manca ancora un anno peró.....

I read only the most famous (Sonnets from the Portuguese) and I have to say she is really great because she is in love but proud and not submissive which was not so granted for that times, because "the victorian woman" was submissive.

I had high expectations and I paid. Not a bad book, in fact nice, the steampunk part is done really well, but I was expecting something more after hearing more than a friend praising it. I will continue the series anyway, I can not resist!

Avevo aspettative altissime e ho pagato. Non un brutto libro, anzi carino, la parte steampunk fatta veramente bene, ma mi aspettavo qualcosa di piú dopo aver sentito piú di un'amica parlarne benissimo. Comunque continuo la serie, non posso esimermi!

A book of love as there are so many, the two characters are not bad but in the end they are far from being unforgettable. The history of the brand of Satan also has seemed to me a bit too overused in a blurred plot.

Un libro d'amore come ce ne sono tanti, i due personaggi non sono male ma alla fine nemmeno indimenticabili. La storia del marchio di satana inoltre, mi é sembrata leggermente troppo sfruttata per spiegare una trama un pochino labile.

I thought a bit before writing this review because I usually like King's books almost without reservation, but this time is different. This novel is a long race against time, in which the good cop has to find the dangerous killer who is not serial, he's almost worse, because he is one mass murderer. The characters are, as usual, well-built and tension remains high, the thing that does not work for me are all the tricks that King is forced to use to handle situations in which he got sticked. Can it be so easy to find the passwords for the computer? is it possible for a woman on the edge of the psychotic break to be able to handle an extremely stressful situation and furthermore being another computer genius? is it possible that the cold murder loose his head so easily? is it possible that the best friend of a white retired police officer, closer to 70 than to 60, is a 17 year old black kid? I do not know, there have been too many escamotages in this book, too many solutions of convenience, that somehow I was disappointed, but mind you it is not a bad book, it just seems written by Deaver .....

Ho pensato un pochino prima di scrivere questa recensione perché a me di solito i libri di King piacciono quasi senza riserva, ma stavolta é diverso. Questo romanzo é una lunga corsa contro il tempo, in cui il poliziotto buono deve incastrare il pericoloso killer che non é serial ma quasi peggio, perché é uno sterminatore di massa. I personaggi sono come al solito ben costruiti e la tensione resta comunque alta, la cosa che secondo me non funziona sono tutti i trucchetti che King si trova costretto ad usare per gestire le situazioni in cui si va a chiudere. Possibile che sia tanto facile trovare le password per i computer? possibile che una donna al limite dello psicotico sia anche in grado di gestire una situazione estremamente stressante e che oltretutto sia un altro genio del computer? possibile che il freddo assassino perda la testa tanto facilmente? possibile che il migliore amico di un poliziotto bianco in pensione piú vicino ai 70 che ai 60 si un ragazzino di colore di 17 anni? Non lo so, ci sono stati troppi escamotages in questo libro, troppe soluzioni di comodo, che in qualche modo mi hanno deluso, ma intendiamoci non é un brutto libro, sembra solo scritto da Deaver.....

This book is really very interesting and clear. Three years ago I attended a lecture by one of the authors, and I found this upcycling idea really brilliant and reading the book only confirmed my original idea. I share only slightly less their optimistic view, but still, I'm a bit too cynical by nature.

Veramente molto interessante e chiaro questo libro. Tre anni fa avevo assistito ad una conferenza di uno degli autori e avevo trovato questa idea dell'upcycling veramente geniale e leggere il libro non ha fatto che confermare la mia idea di partenza. Condivido solo leggermente di meno l'ottimismo, ma insomma, io sono un po' troppo cinica per natura.

A huge anthology of the best urban fantasy short stories told by the point of view of the most notorious and nefarious villains.... It is not bad, but in a way it spoiled all my favorite series, specially the one I'm most attached to: Kevin Hearne's druids and Butcher's Dresden Files, because I didn't want to like the villains mostly.

Una massiccia antologia di alcuni di storie tratte dalle serie piú famose urban fantasy e raccontate dai cattivi piú famosi....Non male, il mio problema peró é che se mi affezioni anche ai cattivi in qualche modo mi si rovina la serie, come per i druidi di Kevin Hearne e per i Dresden Files di Jim Butcher...

The first NOM NOM Book was a sort of revelation to me so I was delighted to keep on reading about this funny family and their recipes. Very well written and explained and super pictures!

Il primo libro di cucina NOM NOM era stato per me una rivelazione, quindi sono stata contentissima di poter leggere anche questo secondo per continuare ad imparare da questa divertente famiglia che cucina ricette particolari, ma non troppo difficili perché ben spiegata e con ottime fotografie.

Another spin off that comes to an end and I appreciate that a lot. At the beginning I was not interested so much in this series, but it really grew on me and I'm happy that I read all the installment and this especially: I loved Bear so much!

Un altro spin off che giunge alla conclusione, ed é un fatto che apprezzo molto. Anche se all'inizio non ero poi tanto interessata a leggere questa serie, devo dire che con il tempo mi é piaciuta sempre di piú e le storie poi si sono conclusa con questa, che é stata in assoluto la mia preferita!

The usual Chomsky with his view of the world with whom I agree, even because otherwise I wouldn't read his books. My only question is why the title is optimism over despair when, after reading the book, despair overwhelms optimism by far....

Il solito Chomsky con la sua visione del mondo, che io ovviamente condivido altrimenti non leggerei i suoi libri. La mi unica domanda riguarda in effetti il titolo, considerato che dopo aver finito il libro la disperazione superava di gran lunga l'ottimismo....

Shin Buddhism: An Introduction by Takafumi Hirose

I liked this book a lot, even if I had no idea there was a Shin Buddhism in the world. The author explain with the right number of words the main topic and gives us in the end a brief discussion to clarify the most important points related to the subject. I had a sort of enilightment reading this book, even because the last chapter is dedicated to a comparison between Shin and Zen Buddhism and I have to say the the first approach is better for me.

Questo libro mi é piaciuto molto, soprattutto perché non avevo idea ci fosse questo buddismo Shin nel mondo. L'autore, con il giusto numero di parole spiega l'argomento principale del capitolo per poi finire con una discussione che evidenzia i punti principali e questo metodo per me é stato molto piú utile dei tanti libri precedenti che ho letto sul buddismo in generale e sui vari altri tipi particolari. Inoltre l'ultima parte che mette a confronto il buddismo Zen con questo é stata una specie di rivelazione per quanto mi riguarda.
