So the blurb said that if you loved "The time-traveler wife" you would have loved this book also, well in my case this was not true, first of all because TTTW was a very well written book and this is not to good; second TTTW was full of time traveling and instead this book has only one, the others are just related and explanations too long and boring; third the two characters of TTTW were unforgettable, Nick and Julia are far from being unforgettable and plus this seems to be the first book from a trilogy or worse a pentalogy while TTTW was a perfect and wonderful stand alone novel. This book was too long, too full of historical details and a little bit too boring, but I can see its appeal, it's just that I was waiting for something different and maybe I was not enough involved in the plot.

La quarta di copertina prometteva che questo libro sarebbe piaciuto a chi aveva amato "La moglie dell'uomo che viaggiava nel tempo" (da qui TTTW), ma nel mio caso non é stato assolutamente cosí, prima di tutto perché TTTW era scritto molto bene, cosa che questo libro non é; poi TTTW era pieno di viaggi nel tempo e dei suoi inevitabili paradossi, mentre qui a conti fatti di viaggio nel tempo c´é n'é solo che uno (andata e ritorno) mentre gli altri sono solo spiegati (troppo a lungo e in modo noioso); terzo, i protagonisti di TTTW sono indimenticabili, mentre di Julia e Nick mi sono giá scordata e peggio di tutti gli altri punti prima elencati, questo sembra essere l'ennesimo primo libro di una trilogia (o peggio pentalogia) mentre TTTW é stato uno splendido ed autoconclusivo romanzo. Riassumendo questo libro é stato un po' troppo lungo, troppo noioso e troppo pieno di dettagli storici, posso comunque capire perché possa piacere, ma io mi aspettavo qualcosa di diverso e forse non sono rimasta poi troppo coinvolta dalla trama.
