Non é una storia felice questa, magari poi va a finire bene, ma noi non lo sappiamo perché non é ancora terminata, peró possiamo sempre augurarcelo. La protagonista ci porta tra i meandri di un ospedale come anche tra quelli della sua mente, sempre in bilico sulla depressione causata dalla cicatrici che dal suo corpo si specchiano nella sua anima. A chi chiedere ragioni quando il miglior chirurgo si rivela un ciarlatano? A chi chiedere spiegazioni quando ti prendono per pazza? Con chi ti puoi arrabbiare se ti dicono che é stata una tua responsabilitá? Non ci sono risposte facili, o magari non ci sono proprio risposte, ma magari é proprio attraverso la scrittura che un po' di fardello si solleva dallo spirito permettendo all'autrice di guardare avanti.

We had already met Meg and Ivo in the previous book and it's not that I found them that interesting. With this novel dedicated to them, however, they turned out to be full of much more interesting facets than it seemed at first, and their story decidedly more engaging. Although "victims of their age" so to speak, they did not consistently sin of extreme superficiality and this book proved to be quite a quick read.
Avevamo giá incontrato Meg ed Ivo nel libro precedente e non é che li avessi trovati poi cosí interessanti. Con questo romanzo a loro dedicato peró, si sono rivelati pieni di sfaccettature molto piú interessanti di quanto sembrasse all'inizio e la loro storia decisamente piú coinvolgente. Per quanto "vittime della loro etá" per cosí dire, non hanno peccato costantemente di estrema superficialitá e questo libro si é rivelato piuttosto rapido da leggere.

Einstein's Beach House by Jacob M. Appel

I don't usually like to read short stories, but this book has some real good stuff inside. Some of them are not unforgettable, but there are others, like the one about the depressed hedgehog, that are really great. So if you like not mainstreaming short stories, that's the book for you.
Non mi piace di solito leggere le raccolte di racconti, ma alcuni di quelli contenuti qui non sono niente male. Non che siano tutte indimenticabili, ma quella del porcospino depresso era veramente uno spettacolo. Quindi se vi piacciono le storie poco comuni, questo é il libro che fa per foi.

Non era esattamente il mio genere, ma tutto sommato questo libro ha piú di una parvenza di veritá e anche se io non sono complottista, il fatto che esista uno stato ombra fatto dai servizi deviati non é proprio un segreto. Comunque un libro ben scritto a cui avrei levato le parti sulla tortura perché le ho trovate difficili da leggere. Se volete una versione alternativa a quanto sta succedendo piú o meno da Genova in poi la trovate qui.

For this one also I would have loved colors more, but ok, we are talking about Jane Eyre here anyway... She was far too pretty as Rochester was in the end, but I liked the manga all the same.
Anche per questo avrei preferito un manga a colori, ma ok, sempre di Jane Eyre stiamo parlando. La protagonista era decisamente disegnata troppo carina, come anche Rochester alla fine, ma mi sono piaciuti lo stesso.

As much as I don't like swimming in open water and love the smell of chlorine to death, it has to be said that, reading this book, I almost felt like trying to swim in the sea (neither rivers nor lakes for goodness sake) and even do it at night and in the rain. Not that I don't appreciate the idea of swimming while there aren't psychopaths around me swimming like they were Olympic Champions while there are more than two of us in the lane, nor do I like hearing the horrible music of the ladies of the acquagym, but the idea of sharing my aquatic space with fish, seaweed or slime, disgusts me even more, but I guess everyone knows what is best for himself.
Per quanto io non ami nuotare in acque libere e ami alla follia l'odore del cloro, c'é da dire che, leggendo questo libro, mi é quasi venuta voglia di provare a nuotare nel mare (né fiumi né laghi per caritá) e di farlo anche la notte e nelle pioggia. Non che io non apprezzi l'idea di nuotare mentre attorno a me non ci sono degli psicopatici che fanno il delfino e la virata mentre in corsia siamo piú di due, né tantomeno evitare di sentire la musichetta orribile delle signore dell'acquagym, ma l'idea di condividere il mio spazio acquatico con dei pesci, delle alghe o della melma, mi schifa ancora di piú, ma immagino che ognuno sappia cosa é meglio per sé.

The initial idea from which the whole plot develops was great, too bad I liked the unfolding less. I probably have to come to terms with the idea that I like current science fiction much better than past science fiction, although some of the books I didn't like are acknowledged classics urbis et orbis.
L'idea iniziale da cui si sviluppa tutta la trama era fantastica, peccato che lo svolgimento mi é piaciuto di meno. Probabilmente devo scendere a patti con l'idea che la fantascienza attuale mi piace molto piú di quella passata, anche se alcuni dei libri che non mi sono piaciuti sono dei classici riconosciuti urbis et orbis.

I hoped this was going to be the next one but it's not; anyway it's a good book but it seems to me that the authors are stalling, they could have bring on the end since a couple of books, but ok, you don't kill your golden egg chicken. Kate and Curran are as usual my favorite character but I have to admit that I start feeling something for Roland too and I'm totally delighted that "SHE" came back. I hope we don't have to wait too much for the last book, if it is the last book.
Speravo fosse l'ultimo capitolo di questa bella saga, ma non lo é; resta comunque un buon libro ma mi sembra quasi che gli autori stiano tergiversando e avrebbero potuto portare il tutto al meritato finale giá da un po, ma capisco anche che non si uccide la propria gallina dalle uova d'oro. Kate e Curran restano i miei personaggi preferiti, ma devo ammettere che ho un debole anche per Roland e soprattutto sono felicissima che sia tornata "LEI". Spero solo non si debba aspettare in eterno per l'ultimo libro, se sará l'ultimo libro.

Fascinating is the organic microchip that helps the extra-planet species to survive the radiation of the second sun, all the rest is about the mating, so ok...nothing new, but still I'm looking forward to read the end.
La parte migliore é quella sul microchip organico che aiuta le specie che provengono da altri pianeti a sopravvivere alle radiazioni del secondo sole, tutto il resto della storia ha a che fare con l'accoppiamento quindi ok....niente di nuovo, comunque non vedo l'ora di leggere l'ultima parte.

Die Geschichte war interessant, aber leider war es für mich zu stark fragmentiert. All diese Namen, Orte, Ereignisse, am Ende kam nicht zustande in einer Übersicht. Die Familie des Autors wird für mich immer ein Geheimnis bleiben, aber nicht für diese Grund ist das Buch nicht wert zu lesen.
La storia era interessante, ma purtroppo per me era troppo frammentata. Tutti questi nomi, luoghi, avvenimenti, alla fine non si sono concretizzati in una visione d'insieme. La famiglia dell'autrice rimarrá quindi per me sempre un mistero, ma non per questo il libro non vale la pena di essere letto.

Jill Shalvis outdoes herself in this book where there is room for all the topics of her books: the big family that forgives you everything, the children who instead are left to their own devices and run away from home, the alpha male who falls in love while remaining convinced that he cannot, and pets (or not) etc.etc.
Obviously as a longtime reader of this author, I was well pleased and enjoyed it.
Jill Shalvis si supera in questo libro dove c'é spazio per tutti gli argomenti dei suoi libri: la famiglia grande che ti perdona tutto, i figli che invece sono abbandonati a se stessi e scappano di casa, il maschio alfa che s'innamora pur restando convinto che non lo puó fare, e gli animali domestici (o meno) etc.etc.
Ovviamente da lettrice di lunga data di questa autrice, ero ben contenta e mi sono divertita.
