I guess it is not at all easy to write a book like "Ready Player One", but my expectations were high anyway. Armada in reality is more a book by three and a half stars rather than four, but this choice of mine may also be due to the fact that the author has killed one of my favorite characters towards the end and I haven't forgiven him. I also had the feeling that throughout the book Cline had different ideas on how to carry it out, as if he was in doubt either turn the whole thing on a generic "we joked, it was all a mental manipulation" or the actual final.In this book also, we have an overabundance of quotations from the last 40 years of sci-fi movies, books or video games, but it's as if the book did not want to distance itself as much from the main plots of some of the sources of his quotes, if I think about it the book's plot on itself is rather obvious as well as at times frankly incredible. Having said that, I read it in one day because I was compelled, it was exciting and I was hoping that it would turn out in a different way as it did, to be precise as the end of the first part of an old science fiction novel by Arthur C. Clarke, whose title I wouldn't tell so I will not spoiler.
Immagino non sia per niente facile scrivere un libro come "Ready Player One", ma le mie aspettative erano alte lo stesso. Armada in realtá é piú un libro da tre stelle e mezzo piuttosto che quattro, ma questa mia scelta potrebbe essere anche dovuta al fatto che l'autore ha ucciso uno dei miei personaggi preferiti verso la fine e io non gliel'ho perdonata. Inoltre ho avuto come la sensazione che per tutto il libro Cline avesse le idee confuse su come portarlo a termine, come se fosse in dubbio sul girare il tutto su un generico "abbiamo scherzato" era tutta una manipolazione mentale piuttosto che sull'attuale finale. Anche qui abbiamo una sovrabbondanza di citazioni dagli ultimi 40 anni di sci-fi, siano film, libri o video giochi, ma é come se il libro non volesse poi distanziarsi tanto dalle trame principali di alcune delle fonti delle sue citazioni, pensandoci bene il libro in sé per sé é piuttosto scontato oltre che a tratti francamente incredibile. Detto questo l'ho letto in un giorno perché mi stava piacendo, era avvincente e speravo che non sarebbe andato a finire cosí come ha fatto, per essere precisi come la prima parte di un vecchio racconto di fantascienza di Arthur C.Clarke di cui peró non diró il titolo, cosí non spoilero.
