Short sentences to make you "stay in the moment", or trying to get there at last. It was ok but it is just another book on mindfulness in my opinion, even if it is written by the master.
Brevi frasi per fare sí che si viva il momento, o quanto meno ci si provi. Non era male pur se é l'ennesimo libro sulla Mindfulness, questo peró lo ha scritto il maestro.

As an Italian I try to understand why Prof. Luzzi stressed to much the poverty or "La miseria" of Calabria, maybe his target was to induce compassion in his reader, or maybe he wanted to show how far was he gone in his life starting very low. But italy is something else also, even if superficiality will get you only the "postcard" version.
Come italiana mi sono chiesta come mai l'autore non facesse che sottolineare lo stato di povertá o miseria come la chiama lui, della Calabria da cui sono emigrati i suoi genitori, magari il suo scopo era quello di muovere il lettore a compassione o magari mostrarci quanto successo aveva avuto nella vita partendo da cosí in basso. Ma l'Italia é anche qualcosa di diverso, chiaramente la superficialitá impedisce di andare oltre la versione da cartolina.

Zen Master Seung Sahn seemed to be a funny man and surely now I have a different idea about Enlightenment, but as far as I'm concerned, this Koan (if I'm allowed to call them like that) shouldn't be read one after the other but I should have taken time to reflect on each of them, my fault.
Il Maestro Zen Seung Sahn sembrava una persona divertente e sicuramente mi ha fornito una visione dell'Illuminazione diversa da quella che avevo, ma per quanto mi riguarda, la lettura di questi Koan (se posso chiamarli cosí) non avrei dovuto farla consecutivamente, ma avrei dovuto fermarmi a riflettere su ognuno di essi, peggio per me.

Se fosse stato piú breve, facciamo tipo di 200 pagine, sarebbe stato un libro perfetto perché scritto benissimo, invece, per rendere l'idea di questa ossessione tra Fusuum e Kamal, l'autore esagera un pochino indulgendo nella sua di ossessione, sfociata poi nel vero museo dell'innocenza.
La parte che piú mi é piaciuta comunque, é la vita nella Turchia a cavallo tra gli anni '70 ed '80, che sembra abbastanza simile all'Italia di quegli anni, tranne i colpi di stato militari. Quindi un libro consigliabile a chi non si fa spaventare da pagine di fissazioni e ruminazioni costanti.

On the way to the Accession this is one of the best book that I recently read, and I was on the verge of giving up this series for good. So I'm patiently waiting for the next one, hoping that it will fulfill my expectations, but at the same time always hoping that maybe it's the last....
Sulla strada dell'Ascensione questo é uno dei migliori libri che abbia letto recentemente, ed ero quasi decisa a lasciar perdere questa serie per sempre. Quindi ora mi metto in paziente attesa del prossimo nella speranza che non mi deluda e, contemporaneamente, sperando che sia l'ultimo....

Bel libro, drammatico e triste, ma che allo stesso tempo apre a nuove speranze, perché a scrivere di disperazione, alla fine, sono buoni tutti, piú difficile invece é restare credibili quando si scrive di amore e di rinascite nonostante il dolore.

There was really nothing new in this book, it seemed to me a sort of summing up everything I read in this last year about brain and nutrition, but I have to say that If you have read nothing about this subject, this could be the right one to start with.
Per quanto mi riguarda non c'era scritto niente di particolarmente innovativo in questo libro, che in pratica riassume quanto detto su cervello ed alimentazione negli ultimi 5 anni almeno, ma se invece non avete mai letto niente a riguardo, cominciare da questo mega riassuntone, potrebbe essere utile e risparmiarvi ulteriori letture.

Review: The Gift of Rain

I had forgotten how devastating this writer could be, all of his books stuffed with Japanese philosophy, martial arts, and wabi-sabi aesthetics just to cover the pain. Once again we return to Malaysia and specifically back to Penang, only this novel was written before The house of doors, so it is actually the progenitor of a series of books. This is the story of a boy who at the age of 16 meets his Sensei (in the highest sense of the word), who then is none other than the same person reincarnated for generations with whom, it seems, the time of reckoning has come. Put like that it sounds like a book about war, which there is and there is a lot of, but in fact it is a very long love story, between people, places and philosophies.
Avevo dimenticato quanto potesse essere devastante questo scrittore, tutto farcito di filosofia giapponese, arti marziali ed estetica wabi-sabi, che serve solo a coprire un dolore profondo. Ancora una volta torniamo in Malesia e di preciso di nuovo a Penang, solo che questo romanzo é stato scritto prima di The house of doors, quindi in realtá é il capostipite di una serie di libri.
Questa é la storia di un ragazzo che a 16 anni conosce il suo Sensei (nel senso piú alto del termine), che poi non é altro che la stessa persona reincarnata da generazioni con il quale, sembra essere arrivato il momento della resa dei conti. Detta cosí sembra un libro di guerra, che pure c'é e ce n'é tanta, ma in realtá é una lunghissima storia d'amore, tra persone, luoghi e filosofie.

The long journey of a not so young anymore woman in a special world we visit when we sleep. I was expecting something better I have to say, and not so much Lovecraft to be noted in here.
Il lungo viaggio di una donna nemmeno piú tanto giovane, in un mondo speciale che, a quanto ho capito, visitiamo quando dormiamo. Mi aspettavo qualcosa di meglio e di piú attinente a Lovecraft, ma cosí mi avevano fatto intendere....
