I had high expectations because some of the people who attend my sci-fi reading group loved this book, but this time I was not disappointed because this short novel is seriously creepy and entertaining and I wonder how they would be able to screen this.
Avevo grosse aspettative perché parecchie persone che frequentano il mio gruppo di lettura sulla fantascienza me ne avevano parlato bene, ma stavolta non sono rimasta delusa perché questa breve novella é veramente spaventosa nel senso che fa venire i brividi, inoltre si legge in un baleno, soltanto mi chiedo come faranno e portarla sul grande schermo....

Absolutely not bad, especially for being the first novel in a huge new series (10 books....), but I had faith in Jess Michaels and I think she will give us good things to read even if it's a fast paced series, or at last I hope so.
Niente male affatto, specialmente perché é il primo di una nuova lunga serie (10 libri), ma ho fiducia nel fatto che Jess Michaels sia in grado di fornirmi buone storie anche se deve scriverle molto velocemente, o almeno lo spero.

Many things I already knew, but the way the author used them to be convincing about something that it's not so sure, made me doubt about the veracity of some of his other observations, so I have to say, it seemed to me I have wasted my time.
Molte delle cose affermate dall'autore le conoscevo giá, ma il modo in cui le manipolava facendo passare per certezze cose di cui non si ha ancora la sicurezza assoluta, mi ha fatto dubitare di tutte le sue altre affermazioni e quindi, di conseguenza, del resto del libro, tanto che alla fine mi é sembrato di perdere tempo a leggerlo.

Brevi storie sull'est, sull'ovest e tutte le persone che si trovano in mezzo. Il modo giusto per mostrare che, anche se il contesto é differente, le persone sono sempre le stesse.

My first Cynster book left me more or less disappointed, I've hard so much about this series that I was even scared because it's always like that: whenever some book are praised I usually don't like them so much, with exceptions of course.
Il mio primo libro della serie Cynster mi ha lasciato piuttosto indifferente, ma avevo sentito parlare talmente bene di questa serie che questo finale era piuttosto scontato: di solito quanto i libri vengono molto lodati a me non fanno impazzire, con le debite eccezioni naturalmente.

Molto molto bello, l'unica cosa che mi é dispiaciuta é che a causa del mio inesistente background riguardo: la storia turca e/o ottomana, i vari miniaturisti e i migliori tra loro, piú alcune leggende arabe, mi ha impedito in qualche modo di godere appieno del libro, perché troppe volte sono dovuta andare su wikipedia. È vero che il romanzo si poteva leggere tranquillamente lo stesso, ma siccome a conti fatti si trattava di un giallo, non volevo perdermi degli indizi solo perché non li avevo capiti.

Una storia agrodolce che, per certi versi era molto innovativa e per altri era piuttosto scontata. Ammetto che il mio background professionale non mi ha permesso di apprezzare cosí tanto la storia come se, per esempio, avesse a che fare con un gruppo di programmatori di computer, ma tutto sommato non sarebbe male che la realtá di alcune malattie psichiatriche fosse come quella di Diana.
Per concludere: non il solito libro di Mariachiara, ma apprezzabilissimo comunque, per quanto la sua vena ironica mi sia un po' mancata.

I have no idea why, even because in this book there is a big turning point, but I found this novel the most boring so far. I hope for the next one to be better as there are already enough series around and I really want to give up some of them.
Non so esattamente perché, considerato anche che in questo libro c'é una grossa svolta, ma per me é stato il piú noioso di tutti. Spero che il prossimo mi faccia un'impressione differente, anche perché con tutte le serie che ci sono in giro non vedo l'ora di mollarne qualcuna.

Episodes of Daisaku Ikeda's life as examples of a fulfilling life achieved trough Buddhist teachings. Interesting and hagiographisch, and made me think there is still a looooong way to go.
Episodi della vita di Daisaku Ikeda, come esempi di una vita soddisfacente condotta alla luce degli insegnamenti buddisti. Interessante ed agiografico, mi ha fatto comunque riflettere su quanta strada ancora ci sia da fare.....

One of the best installment in this series so far, even if I had the culprit completely wrong, but still a very nice and fast reading, full of italian things like food and Boccaccio, so I could be a little bit partial to that, but just a little bit. Looking forward to the next book with my favorite chef/detective!
Uno dei migliori volumi della serie, anche se avevo completamente toppato il colpevole, ciononostante una rapida e divertente lettura, piena inoltre di cose italiane tipo il cibo e Boccaccio, che potrebbero avere piú di un certo peso sul mio giudizio. Non vedo l'ora di leggere il prossimo volume con la mia chef/detective preferita!

I haven't read such a good fantasy book for a lot of time and it was so much fun! I would be so happy to discuss it in my Sci-fi reading group and looking forward to see how many people loved it as much as I do.
Era tanto che non leggevo un fantasy cosí divertente e non vedo l'ora di discuterlo nel mio book club della fantascienza per vedere se sono solo io o se ci sono altri che l'hanno amato tanto!

As I don't want to treat bad something just because I don't understand it, like Jane in the plot, I would just say that as I have not studied colonialism in its forms, I'm not able to judge this play.
Siccome non vorrei parlare male di qualcosa solo perché non la capisco, come la Jane del dramma, mi limiteró a dire che, siccome non ho nessun background in studi colonialistici, non sono in grado di giudicare questa piece.

I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou

I've been longing to read this book since a couple of years, after I read something else written by this beautiful writer, I think it was poetry. This book, in its infinite sadness, is a real good one, well written and dramatically honest, made me feel ashamed of being white. I won't be brave enough to read all the other volume of her autobiography, but I'm delighted that she became so famous and well known.
Volevo leggere questo libro almeno da un paio d'anni, quando lessi per caso delle sue poesie. Questa storia, nella sua infinita tristezza, é veramente molto bella, ben scritta e drammaticamente onesta, piú di una volta mi sono vergognata di essere "bianca". Non credo che avró il coraggio di leggere i restanti volumi dell'autobiografia, ma il fatto che questa bambina di colore sia diventata cosí famosa e conosciuta mi riempie di gioia.
