Nice plot Mrs. Leigh, this time there are less sex scenes but the story is so much better compared to the first novel in this series, and Jazz is a nicer character as Slade. Kiki is also a tough woman, with everything she has gone trough and it was good that in the end they can finally get together.

Bella storia Sig. Leigh, stavolta c'é un po' meno sesso e molta piú trama paragonato al primo volume di questa serie e inoltre Jazz mi é sempre stato piú simpatico di quel cavernicolo di Slade. Anche Kiki é una tosta, voglio dire, dopo quello che ha passato, e sono stata contenta che alla fine sono potuti tornare assieme.

Merrit and Keir are not only a great couple, but also the direct descendants of some of my old favorite marriages so I could hardly not like one of the books that derives, more or less directly, from the Wallflowers and allows me to meet them again!

Merrit e Keir sono non solo una bella coppia, ma anche i diretti discendenti di alcune delle mie famiglie preferite, quindi difficilmente potrebbe non piacermi uno dei libri che deriva, piú o meno direttamente, dalle Wallflowers e mi permette di incontrarle di nuovo!

This was my first Trollope and it was not so easy to read. Maybe it was because the plot was really boring even if I can imagine the function of this book was to introduce us to the people of Barchester, still it was not easy to finish it even if it was only 200 pages long.

Questo é stato il mio primo Trollope e ammetto di averlo sofferto parecchio. Non so se sia stata colpa della trama che era veraente noiosa ed abbastanza esile, ma magari questo volume aveva solo lo scopo di introdurci i personaggi di Barchester. Se anche fosse questo il motivo ho arrancato per tutte le 200 pagine del libro, che non sono mica poi tante.

I usually read about highlander fighting against Britain, but this book is set in the middle of 1800 so it's an altogether different story and it's nice and well written, so it was fun.

Di solito, i libri con gli Highlander sono ambientati nel periodo (piuttosto lungo tra l'altro) in cui combattevano contro i Britanni, questo invece é ambientato nella metá del 1800 e quindi é una storia completamente diversa, carina e ben scritta, quindi é stata una piacevole lettura.

I liked this book, it was well written and the characters different from the usual victorian/regency novels. She is an heiress but doesn't act and live like one and he is an honorable highwayman so it was a different nice reading.

Mi é piaciuto questo libro perché era ben scritto ed i personaggi non erano i soliti che popolano questo tipo di libri. Lei per quanto un'ereditiera non vive né si comporta come una di loro, mentre lui é un deliquente con un grande senso dell'onore, quindi é stata una lettura diversa.

I have been reading books on conscience for a long time because it has always been a subject that has particularly interested me since, long ago, I found myself almost by chance at a lecture by Giulio Tononi. Since then I think I have read quite a lot and I particularly appreciated the clear way in which this book illustrates both medical and philosophical theories and above all the excursus into the future and the "risk" of artificial intelligence.

Leggo da tempo libri sulla coscienza perché é sempre stato un argomento che mi ha particolarmente interessato, da quando, in tempi non sospetti, mi ritrovai quasi per caso ad una conferenza di GIulio Tononi. Da quel momento credo di aver letto parecchio e di questo libro ho apprezzato particolarmente il modo chiaro di illustrare teorie sia mediche che filosofiche e soprattutto l'excursus nel futuro ed il "rischio" delle intelligenze artificiali.

Although I have read many books on Mindfulness in all its various forms, this book, which combines it in a very clear way with Zen Buddhism, remains one of my favourites, although one of the least applicable, at least as far as I am concerned. Definitely one of the texts in which theory is much easier than practice....

Per quanto abbia letto molti libri sulla Mindfulness in tutte le sue varie declinazioni, questo libro che la unisce in modo molto chiaro al buddismo zen, resta uno dei miei preferiti per quanto uno dei meno applicabili, almeno per quanto mi riguarda. Decisamente uno dei testi nei quali la teoria é molto piú facile della pratica....

Not a bad book, but still way too long, I mean Colt and Sunny spent most of the 12 years since the first day they met, almost ever separated, not your "usual" romance in a way. It was interesting anyway to get a glimpse of the life on the Wild Wild West.

Non male come libro, ma decisamente troppo lungo, inoltre Colt e Sunny passano la maggior parte dei 12 anni che copre questo libro (dal primo momento in cui si conoscono in poi) separati, diciamo che non é proprio tipico dei romanzi d'amore. Comunque é stato interessante perché offre uno scorcio di quella che era la vita nel selvaggio West.

Even if this book was the 30th of this series it was good enough and it seems that the author has still a lot of stories stored for her readers. Cat and Gideon were a good couple even if a little too much on the desperation site, anyway now I'm looking for Cassie's Story (as usual) and Cullen's too.

Anche se questo libro era il 30 (!!!!) della serie, non era male e sembra che l'autrice abbia ancora un sacco di storie in serbo per i suoi lettori. Cat e Gideon sono una bella coppia anche se c'era un po´troppo tormento e disperazione per i miei gusti, ma comunque, e come al solito, ora aspetto la storia di Cassie e quella di Cullen!

Sorry to say that dear D. Levithan, because you are one of my favorite author and so on, but this book was far from being necessary. The first one was ok but this second finishes with a cliffhanger that makes me think that maybe a third one is going to come. And if I start thinking I can maybe hypothesize that the next one would be from Justin's point of view, whom has a tragic accident, is in come and then A come and takes his place and that would really been soooooo obvious. Please don't do that. Will Grayson and his other version were not so good and this one also, why don't ou stuck to only one book? We love you all the same and you are a great writer....

Mi dispiace dirtelo cosí caro Levithan, perché sei uno dei miei scrittori preferiti etcetc., ma questo libro non era proprio necessario. Il primo non era male, ma questo secondo volume finisce anche in sospeso, il che mi fa pensare che potrebbe essercene un terzo....e se comincio a pensare questo magari mi viene anche in mente che potrebbe essere dal punto di vista di Justin, che peró ha un brutto incidente, rimane in coma....e poi arriva A che prende il suo posto e tutto questo sarebbe cosí banale e scontato! Per favore, no! Quando hai fatto Will Grayson e il suo seguito avevo giá avuto i miei dubbi e mi ero chiesta: perché non scrivi solo un libro sulla stessa storia? Ti amiamo comunque e sei un grande scrittore.....

I don't like the retelling of old fables so much, but this one was not bad, a little bit of steampunk, a little bit of magic and the usual love triangle taht´s common in every YA novel. What you have is a bewitched Cinderella with a step mother, a step sister, a best friend whom is in love with her and the prince, of course.

Di solito non mi piacciono le favole rivisitate, ma questa non era male: un pochino di steampunk, un pochino di magia e il solito triangolo amoroso che c'é in ogni libro YA. Quello che si ottiene é una Cenerentola stregata, con una matrigna, una sorellastra, un amico del cuore che si innamora di lei e ovviamente, un principe.

The Brilliant Abyss: Exploring the Majestic Hidden Life of the Deep Ocean, and the Looming Threat That Imperils It by Helen Scales

Paradoxical as it may seem, this book, which is a very serious essay on the ocean floor, reminded me so much of my favorite adventure books, the Pitt and Giordino novels written by the late Clive Cussler. Apart from that, very interesting, well written and with a series of fundamental information to understand how it could evolve, in the not too distant future, research in the seabed, fishing and basically even humanity.

Per quanto possa sembrare paradossale, questo libro, che é un serissimo saggio sui fondali dell'oceano, mi ha ricordato tantissimo i miei libri di avventura preferiti, quelli di Pitt e Giordino scritti dal compianto Clive Cussler. A parte questo, molto interessante, ben scritto e con una serie di informazioni fondamentali per capire come potrebbe evolversi, in un futuro non troppo lontano, la ricerca nei fondali marini, la pesca e fondamentalmente anche l'umanitá.

I have to say that this type of book - that dangerously looks similar to "The Host" by S.Meyer - is a good book because D.Levithan is a great writer. I absolutely hate YA (except his) and this type of fragmented story, but still I enjoyed this one.

Prima di tutto devo dire che questo non é il tipo di libro che mi piace - inoltre é drammaticamente simile a The Host di S. Meyer - peró mi é piaciuto perché D. Levithan é un grande scrittore. Inoltre gli YA mi fanno abbastanza schifo (tranne is uoi e quello di Green) come anche questo tipo di storie completamente frammentate, ma comunque questa mi é piaciuta.

This attempt to mix MC and paranormal romance left me totally not interested even if She is one of my favorite author. The couple made sparks but still the contest was lacking in a way and even meeting "old friends" all along the book, was not so nice anymore. So it's probably my fault because this world is not interesting for me anymore.

Questo tentativo di "sposare" bande di motociclisti e paranormal romance mi ha lasciato piuttosto indifferente anche se la Zanetti è una delle mie autrici preferite. La coppia assieme faceva anche scintille ma il contesto, in qualche modo, non mi sembrava quello adeguato e anche incontrare molti dei vecchi personaggi non mi ha fatto né caldo né freddo. Quindi deduco che sia colpa mia perché questo "mondo" non mi interessa piú.
