Make Something Up: Stories You Can't Unread by Chuck Palahniuk

The truth is that the subtitle says undeniably the true, at the end of some of these stories I would have gone back in time and deleted what I just read. Some of these tales are obscene, not in the sexual sense of the term, they are scary, they are disgusting, and most of all I wondered how could he just thought about a story like that. The answer is not there, or at least I do not have it, but in short, even when the other book of stories was out I had promised myself to read only his novels, but I forgot, I really have to remember it for the next time.
La veritá é che il sottotitolo dice innegabilmente il vero, alla fine di alcune di queste storie avrei fatto volentieri rewind e cancellato quanto letto fino a quel momento. Alcuni questi racconti sono osceni, nel senso non sessuale del termine, mettono paura, fanno senso e soprattutto mi sono chiesta piú colte come potesse essergli potuto venire in mente. La risposta non c'é o quanto meno non ce l'ho io, ma insomma, anche in occasione degli altri racconti mi ero ripromessa di leggere solo i romanzi, devo assolutamente ricordarmelo per la prossima volta.

Mostly a book for kid, but the illustrations are very nice so adults can find it good also.
Principalmente mi sembra un libro per bambini, ma i disegni sono molto belli, quindi credo possa piacere anche agli adulti.

Sono finalmente riuscita a finire questa trilogia, purtroppo però ho aspettato troppo tempo e alcune cose, nei mesi intercorsi tra i primi due libri e questo, me le ero scordate. Tornando al libro comunque, ho come la sensazione che l'autore abbia sacrificato la credibilità sull'altare del colpo di scena. Purtroppo quindi, all'ennesima rivelazione ero ormai convinta che il tutto si sarebbe concluso nel modo più incredibile possibile e così é stato. Peccato, avrei preferito qualcosa di diverso e di meno eclatante, ma che avesse un minimo di senso.

I should have stopped 3 or 4 books ago to read this series, but ok, my OCD didn't allowed me. So my only chance is that this is eventually the very last book, even if I already know it is not.
Avrei dovuto smettere di leggere questa serie almeno 3 o 4 libri fa, più o meno con la fine dei cavalieri dell'apocalisse, ma il mi disturbo ossessivo compulsivo me l'ha impedito quindi la mia unica speranza é che questo sia davvero l'ultimo volume, ma so già che non è così.

I like Aciman's books ALMOST as much as I like this collection of short essays, in which the author describes some cities (including Rome and Alexandria), the director Rohmer and other famous poets and books, which gave me the opportunity to extend my already endless list of books to read.
Unfortunately, in some cases, I found the chapters a bit repetitive, so I recommend not reading the whole book in a row.
I libri di Aciman mi piacciono quasi quanto questa raccolta di brevi saggi, in cui l'autore descrive alcune cittá (tra cui Roma e Alessandria), il regista Rohmer e altri poeti e libri famosi, che mi hanno dato l'opportunitá di allungare la mia giá infinita lista di libri da leggere.
Purtroppo peró in alcuni casi, ho trovato i capitoli un po' ripetitivi e quindi consiglio di non leggere il libro tutto di seguito.

This book is a clear and interesting description of the world of porn movies, from a sociological and anthropological point of view. The author outlines in a very scientific, and even fun, way what are the main reasons that led her to do this research and allows us to have many different and interesting insights of a piece of the world that, even if it's very wide, is usually ignored.
Questo libro è una chiara e interessante descrizione del mondo del porno, in particolare dei film, da un punto di vista antropologico e sociologico. L'autrice delinea in modo scientifico, e anche divertente, quali sono le ragioni che l'hanno spinta a fare questa ricerca e ci permette di avere differenti e chiarificanti insight su una parte di mondo, che per quanto vasta, viene di solito sistematicamente ignorata.

A Marquis for Mary (The Notorious Flynns, #5) by Jess Michaels

I love Jess Michaels and even if I think that sometimes I would love her book to be a little longer, the tension is always high and the characters have chemistry. As a serial reader, I'm also happy to see the happy ending for Mary and Edward, who both deserved it.
Mi piace molto Jess Michaels e, anche se penso che spesso vorrei che i suoi libri fossero più lunghi, la tensione è sempre molto alta, come anche la chimica tra i suoi personaggi. Come serial reader inoltre, sono stata contenta dell'happy ending per Mary ed Edward, che se lo meritavano.

Batman: Arkham Knight Vol. 1 by Peter J. Tomasi, Viktor Bogdanovic (Illustrations)

Per quanto questo Batman stia meglio con la maschera che senza (ha un po' la faccia da bambascione) le illustrazioni sono molto belle e la situazione a Gotham City è completamente sfuggita di mano sia al Commissario Gordon che allo stesso Batman. Devo ammettere che dopo aver letto questo prequel ad Arkham Knight, la tentazione di comprare la PS4 per giocare all'omonimo giochino é aumentata esponenzialmente, e già inizialmente non era bassa.....

This is not a book, this is a sonnet to celebrate people's love for the books they read or are going to, all along their life. A pity that all of this people talking about books are Australian authors whom I still haven't read. Anyway this book was really good because I can empathize with almost everything that was written and I think every book lover would appreciate it.
Questo é qualcosa di piú di un libro, è piuttosto una celebrazione dell'amore delle persone per i libri che hanno letto o che leggeranno nella loro vita. Un peccato che tutti gli autori che hanno scritto un contributo per questo libro sono Australiani e non li ho mai letti, ancora. Comunque veramente un bel libro, perché era facile per me immedesimarmi in ciascuno di loro ed empatizzare con quello che avevano scritto, e come me qualunque amante dei libri.

Another one of those books that makes you want to see the Middle East, especially Lebanon and Egypt, and that in times of pandemic and lockdown would have been better not to read.
Other than that, the story is cute and the author with her "not feeling at home" in either New York or Beirut, I understand her a lot.
In addition, the description of the food makes one atavistically hungry.
Un altro di quei libri che fanno venire voglia di vedere il Medio Oriente, in particolare il Libano e l'Egitto, e che in tempo di pandemia e con il lockdown sarebbe stato meglio non leggere.
A parte questo la storia é carina e l'autrice con il suo "non sentirsi a casa" né a New York né a Beirut, la capisco moltissimo.
Inoltre la descrizione delle cose da mangiare fa venire una fame atavica.

Defying the Earl (Regency Charms, #1) by Anabelle Bryant

I don't like this book even if when I read the plot I was so happy because it was so different from the usual regency romance that I was looking forward to read it. Problem was that even if it's well written and not boring, I couldn't find chemistry between the main characters so in the end I was not even interested in the story.
Non mi é piaciuto questo libro, anche se, quando avevo letto la trama, ero molto felice perché finalmente era qualcosa di diverso dal solito romance in epoca regency. Il problema nel mio caso é stato che, per quanto ben scritto, non c'erano nè chimica nè scintille tra i personaggi e alla fine mi sono annoiata.
