This is more an anthropological/sociological study on the evolution of a culture than a sci-fi book if not for the setting. I didn't really appreciate the novel due to the lacking of psychical knowledge on my side, which is a strong feature of this book, and the feeling that everything the author describes in terms of computer and modern paraphernalia, are way outdated because this book was written in the 80's. So I found it boring, also because I got the nagging feeling of Flatlandia bothering me.
Questo, piú che un libro di fantascienza, mi é sembrato una disamina antropo/sociologica sulla nascita e lo sviluppo di una cultura. Inoltre la mia cronica ignoranza in termini di astrofisica, che invece caratterizza l'autore (in origine uno scienziato) che si dilunga in spiegazioni e il fatto che comunque parecchie delle attrezzature descritte sono "vecchie" perché la pubblicazione del volume risale agli anni 80, non mi ha fatto apprezzare la storia quanto avrei voluto e mi ha piuttosto annoiato. Inoltre sin dall'inizio ho avuto questa sensazione da Flatlandia che mi ha dato noia per tutto il tempo.
