Un bambino in Israele nel 1947, quando gli inglesi vengono considerati invasori e anche i piú piccoli sognano un futuro da eroi dove piazzano congegni ed ordigni spazzando via il nemico. Questo libro, come altri di Oz che raccontano di un Israele appena nato, sono a tutt'oggi tra i suoi lavori che mi piacciono di piú.

Schönes Buch, das sehr traurig ist, während sie innig zu unterhalten verwaltet. Es erzählt die Geschichte eines 17 Jahre alt Junger, den ein Schuljahr in den USA verbracht in den 80er Jahren, und wenn er zurückkommt , hat er sich verändert, aber es ist nicht der einzige.
Bel libro, che riesce a divertire pur essendo intimamente molto triste. Ambientato negli anni '80, racconta la storia di un diciassettenne che trascorre un anno di scuola negli Stati Uniti, e quando torna é cambiato, ma non é il solo.

I have read carefully only the parts that were interesting for me, as I'm not keen in some lateral thinking, tennis of yoga, but the author made a really good job in researching and the part about the psychotherapy are illuminating.
Ho letto attentamente solo le parti che mi interessavano, anche perché non vado matta per certe specie di pensiero laterale, tennis o yoga, a parte questo l'autore ha svolto un minuzioso lavoro di ricerca e la parte sulla psicoterapia é stata illuminante.

Apparently, these days every self-respecting romance has to take place at least for the most part in a lab, which might even suit me just fine because women in STEM must be getting more and more. Ma problem was that I don't like Liz, the heroine, at all, but I don't even know where to begin to explain that everything Tom does is not only wrong, but not even remotely justifiable. Having said that there are some little comic sketches that some people might even like and certainly this is my personal opinion and so it is normal that there are quite a few favorable reviews, but mine will not be among them.
A quanto pare, in questo periodo ogni romance che si rispetti deve svolgersi almeno per la maggior parte in un laboratorio, il che potrebbe andarmi anche benissimo perché le donne in STEM devono diventare sempre di piú. Se non fosse che la donna di questo romanzo, Liz, non mi piace affatto, ma non so nemmeno da dove cominciare per spiegare che tutto quello che fa Tom non solo é sbagliato, ma nemmeno lontanamente giustificabile. Fatta questa premessa ci sono dei piccoli sketch comici che potrebbero anche piacere e sicuramente questo é il mio parere personale e quindi é normale che ci siano parecchie recensioni favorevoli, ma la mia non sará tra quelle.

Review: Lessons

I have read several of McEwan's books, and in my opinion he is on a downward parabola. It's also to be said that I haven't read his early books, basically the ones in the last 10 years, and for me they have been getting worse. This last one then is written in such a long-winded and boring way that more than once I despaired of being able to finish it. Clearly I am not a literary scholar let alone a literary critic, but since I received the ARC for this book I can take it upon myself to say that I will not miss it and that maybe it may even be time for me to take a break from this author.
Ho letto parecchi libri di McEwan e secondo me é in una parabola discendente. C'é anche da dire che non ho letto i suoi libri iniziali, fondamentalmente quelli degli ultimi 10 anni e per me sono andati peggiorando. Quest'ultimo poi é scritto in modo talmente prolisso e noioso che piú di una volta ho disperato di riuscire a finirlo. Chiaramente io non sono una letterata e tantomeno un critica letteraria, ma siccome ho ricevuto l'ARC di questo libro posso prendermi la responsabilitá di dire che non mi mancherá e che magari sará anche arrivato il momento che io mi prenda una pausa da questo autore.

Ci mancava solo l'inizio di una nuova serie che mi piace, come se non ne stessi seguendo giá miliardi. Comunque il libro scorre benissimo e la trama regge abbastanza, anche se per certe cose mi é sembrata parecchio tirata. Un occhio di riguardo nei confronti della protagonista ce l'ho anche perché abbiamo fatto/siamo sopravvissute alla stessa cronica mancanza di lavoro e soldi che affligge le psicologhe, che lavorino per una cooperativa o meno, almeno io mi sono risparmiata i cadaveri e Bergamo alta.

Easy, but perfect for beginners like me. Easy suggestion to follow, to remember but most of all to think. Good for fathers also.
Facile ma perfetto per principianti come me. Facili suggerimenti da seguire, ricordare ma soprattutto per riflettere. Ottimo anche per i padri.

Wonderstruck by Brian Selznick

I was in love with Hugo Cabret, but this new graphic novel (?) by Selznick is even better, so don't forget to read it and to give it as a present.
Hugo Cabret mi aveva fatto innamorare, ma questa nuova graphic novel (?) di Selznick é persino migliore, quindi non dimenticatevi di leggerla e di regalarla.

As the title says it's an introduction and it would be nice to have a sequel somewhere in time, because the author was crystal clear so I wouldn't mind reading some more about this subject.
Come dice il titolo stesso, questo libro é una breve introduzione alla psicologia morale, ma considerata la bravura dell'autore e la sua chiarezza, non mi dispiacerebbe leggerne un sequel, magari piú approfondito e lungo, sullo stesso argomento.

Brilliant! Mixing economy, statistic, psychology and going to some other subjects trough neuroscience, the author gives some easy examples to explain us the reason behind some of our inferences and why they could be wrong. Taken one after the other it's true that there are no special news but for the way the author has to use them together. To read and suggest.
Fantsastico. Con un abile mix di economia, statistica, psicologia e altre materie varie passando per le neuroscienze, l'autore fornisce facili esempi per spiegare la maggior parte delle nostre inferenze e le ragioni per cui possono essere sbagliate. Prese singolarmente non ci sono grosse idee nuove nel libro, se non fosse per il modo innovativo che ha l'autore per mescolarle.

Ich habe wirklich gemischte Gefühle über dieses Buch, weil, auch wenn es manchmal lustig war (auch nicht so viel wie ich dachte) entlang ich danke es war nicht richtig zu lachen für etwas wie Hitlers zurückkommt.
I have really mixed feelings about this book because, even if sometimes it was funny (not even so much as i thought it would be) all along I thought it was not right to laugh at something like Hitler's coming back.
Mixed feelings per questo libro che avrebbe dovuto essere "taaaaanto divertente", ma che per tutto il tempo mi ha fatto pensare che non fosse giusto ridere di una cosa terribile come un eventuale ritorno di hitler, o di uno come lui, tipo trump per esempio.
