As much as philosophy goes, there was not so much to learn (at last for me) except the new contexts in which the old theories were settled and the funny and entertaining ways in which the author spoke about that.

Per quanto riguarda la filosofia, non é che ci fossero tante cose da imparare, ma la cosa migliore del libro é sicuramente il modo di raccontare dell'autore ed i nuovi e divertenti contesti in cui inserisce le vecchie teorie.

It was an interesting book full of easy recipes, but my problem with new "cuisine stuff" is that I prefer pictures to go along with the ingredients and the preparations.

È un libro pieno di ricette interessanti e abbastanza facili, inoltre permette un maggior uso della pentola a pressione, che io ignoro quasi completamente, soltanto che come sempre mi accade con le ricette, preferirei anche le foto, quanto meno del piatto finito, se non posso averle di tutta la preparazione.

I liked this graphic novel enough, but I still prefer the original epic book, but if it takes a graphic novel to spread the Iliad, it is ok and I hope a lot of people would read this great story!

Not an easy reading in the end, even if at the beginning I couldn't stop, but this continually switching trough times in the plot, took its toll on my attention and in the way I was dragging till the last pages, mostly because eventually I was just curious, but not so take anymore.

It was a little bit that I wanted to read the saga of Flavia De Luce,then Netgalley sent me the 7th volume and so here I am with Flavia now located in a Canadian Boarding School and a death person in the fireplace. The action takes place no more in the usual English village and this can be counterproductive, because there aren't all the usual characters we were used to. A book intermediate, in which the investigation mixes with the search for Flavia for a place in the school (and in the world), of friends among the girls and also information concerning the secret society to which she should belong. Maybe next book would be a little better because this novel seemed to me basically an introductory book for a new phase of the adventures of Miss De Luce.

Era da un pochino che volevo leggere la saga di Flavia De Luce, e poi Netgalley mi ha mandato il 7° volume e quindi eccomi qui con alle prese Flavia che si trova in una Boarding School canadese e un morto nel camino. L'azione non si svolge piú nel solito paesino inglese e questo puó essere anche controproducente, perché non ci sono piú tutti i soliti personaggi a cui eravamo abituati. Un libro intermedio, in cui il giallo si mischia con la ricerca di Flavia di un posto nella scuola (e nel mondo), di amiche tra le ragazze e anche di nuiove informazioni riguarda la societá segreta a cui dovrebbe appartenere. Magari il prossimo é un po' meglio perché questo mi é sembrato fondamentalmente un libro introduttivo per una nuova fase delle avventure della signorina De Luce.

Another book about books - or better: a book about the places that are described in some of the most important classics of all times - which stole my heart. I loved to read and remember the plots that were running in the streets that the author describes. Only disappointment was the total absence of Rome, in a book where Florence and Neapels are described....

Un altro libro sui libri - o meglio: un libro su alcuni dei posti raccontati dai classici più famosi - che mi ha preso il cuore. È stato molto bello leggere le parole dell'autrice e contemporaneamente ricordare le trame che si svolgevano in quei vicoli e piazze. Peccato peró, che in un volume che cita Firenze e Napoli, Roma sia vistosamente assente.

This is a Brunetti's story where the omicide happens almost at the end of the book and still I consider it one of the best I have read this far. I am even thinking about reading Eschilo as he did in the novel, just to get again this feeling of his life in Venice, where everything is different even if nothing changes. I liked this book a lot, but it is not your usual thriller....

Questa storia che come al solito vede come protagonista Brunetti, si articola intorno ad un omicidio che avviene nel finale, ma resta uno dei migliori romanzi della Leon che ho letto fino ad ora, sto anche riflettendo se mettermi a leggere Eschilo come lui, in modo da riassaporare quella sensazione di una Venezia dove tutto cambia, ma niente é diverso. In sintesi questo libro mi é piaciuto anche se non si puó considerare un giallo standard.

This is not the first book I read about the connection between our Brain and our Body and the reason why we cannot help one without taking care of the other also. So there were interesting things but also some other not so easy to prove and also difficult to do stuff. It didn't convince me completely but maybe it is just me.

Questo non é il primo libro che leggo riguardante la connessione tra il corpo e il cervello e di come non si possa aiutare l'uno senza prendere in considerazione l'altro; quindi c'erano cose interessanti, ma anche teorie difficili da verificare e modifiche complesse da mettere in atto, quindi tutto sommato direi che questo libro non mi ha poi convinto del tutto, ma magari sono solo io che sono pigra.

Due racconti veramente molto belli, che hanno come tema la famiglia, ovviamente. La prima famiglia é molto sui generis perché é composta fondamentalmente da due ex amanti che si incontrano dopo tanto tempo e non si rimetteranno mai piú assieme, ma per il resto la loro é come se fosse una famiglia.

Il secondo racconto, se possibile, racconta di dinamiche ancora piú disfunzionali, molto sul tema parenti serpenti. La Ginzuburg, con quel suo modo di raccontare senza giudicare, é decisamente perfetta per descrivere le magagne della vita familiare, e anche se sono passati piú di 40 anni dal periodo descritto dall'autrice, proprio non si direbbe.

Avrei apprezzato un po' meno dramma (il volto sfigurato, l'incapacità a deglutire, etc.) e magari un po' piú di azione, ma il fraintendimento tra i due era veramente qualcosa che valeva la pena leggere :)

I must admit that Kate and Nick get better with time, so also this time Evanovich writes a novel fun, flowing fast and that puts us in the agonizing wait of the next book, maybe when the kisses will give way to something else? Who knows ... but the tension between the two is quite high and the other characters, beginning with Jack, the father of Kate, are really a lot of fun, especially Boyd and his characterizations. I really hope that the next novel with Fox and O'Hare comes soon!

Devo ammettere che Kate e Nick migliorano con il tempo, anche stavolta la Evanovich scrive un romanzo divertente che scorre velocissimo e che ci mette in attesa spasmodica del prossimo, quando magari i baci lasceranno il posto a qualcosa di diverso? Chi lo sa...comunque la tensione tra i due é decisamente alta e gli altri personaggi, a cominciare da Jack, il babbo di Kate, sono veramente uno spasso, con particolare Boyd e le sue caratterizzazioni. Spero davvero che il prossimo romanzo con Fox e O'Hare arrivi presto!

I think that Lisa Kleypas is not herself anymore, and I am pretty sure that she hasn't been since a long long time. Everytime there's a new book out I start hoping again to feel and fell like the old times, but....no, not this time at last....Good thing is as usual to meet Sebastian and Evie again, bad thing is using their daughter that way. West I never liked anyway. Let's go on and forget.

Penso che da tempo Lisa Kleypas non sia piú la stessa. Ogni volta che esce un suo libro nuovo spero di tornare a sentire le vecchie sensazioni a reimmergermi in quei drammoni d'amore che non sono mai piú stati eguagliati (per quanto mi riguarda), ma niente, neanche stavolta almeno. La cosa buona é rincontrare Sebastian ed Evie, quella cattiva é stata usare la figlia per questo libro e in questo modo. West mi é stato antipatico dall'inizio quindi non aggiungo altro, andiamo avanti e dimentichiamo.

Es ist nicht ein schlechtes Buch, aber es ist noch nicht einmal ein gutes Buch. Eine Frau erzählt, ihre Eltern leben wurzellose Auswanderer Juden nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg fallen in Deutschland (eine englische und eine bulgarisch), ihr Leben in West-Berlin und das Leben, das sie zwischen Deutschland und Frankreich habt, wenn zog nach Paris. Alles nach dem Tod seines Vaters. Ich frage mich immer noch, wenn ich vielleicht etwas versteckte Bedeutung verloren habe ....

It is not a bad book, but it is not even a good book. A woman tells her parents life als rootless expatriate Jews falling in Germany (one English and one Bulgarian) after the Second World War, their life in West Berlin and the life that she builds between Germany and France when she moved to Paris. Everything after the death of his father. I'm still wondering if I have perhaps lost some hidden meaning ....

Non é un brutto libro, ma non é nemmeno un bel libro. Una donna racconta del suo vivere senza radici da genitori espatriati ebrei che rientrano in Germania (uno inglese e una bulgara) dopo la seconda guerra mondiale, della loro vita a Berlino Ovest e della vita che lei si costruisce tra la Germania e la Francia quando si trasferisce a Parigi. Il tutto dopo la morte del padre. Mi sto ancora chiedendo se non mi sono forse persa qualche significato nascosto....
