I liked this story a lot, even if it was a little bit too long in my opinion. Looking forward to read the stories of the other 2 Brides of Mari.

I usually love Lansdale a lot, but this book was just way too long even if the story was really good. I loved Nat and Cullen and Billy and Bronco, but in the end there were at last 150 pages too much, but it's just my opinion.

Di solito Lansdale mi piace moltissimo, ma questo libro é stato decisamente troppo lungo anche se la storia era bella. Mi sono piaciuti molto Nat, Cullen, Billy e Bronco, ma alla fine direi che c'erano almeno 150 pagine di troppo, ma é solo la mia opinione.

There is something between me and the Victorian novels that can be called love. This is my first Collins' book and I hope that there are going to be many more. The plot, the characters - the villains in particular - the description of the country.....it was like watching a long fascinating movie with twists and drama. Wonderful.

Tra me e la maggior parte dei romanzi vittoriani c'é amore a prima vista. Questo é stato il primo libro che ho letto di Collins e spero ne seguiranno molti altri. La trama, i personaggi - specialmente i cattivi - la descrizione della campagna inglese....é stato come guardare un lungo bellissimo film pieno di dramma e colpi di scena. Meraviglioso.

Technically the idea was really good: genetically engineered women made to serve the MAN, I mean a really good idea in a dystopyan novel where everything was going to change, but the characters where too vapid to make something and in the end I quit because it was absolutely not interesting for me at all.

Utopisticamente l'idea per la trama non era male: donne geneticamente modificate ed educate per servire l'UOMO, voglio dire, sarebbe stata una splendida partenza per una novella distopica dove poi le donne prendono in mano la situazione e rovesciano lo status quo; purtroppo da questa banda di cretine aspettarsi qualcosa era veramente inutile, quindi verso la metá del libro ho smesso di leggere perché il tutto si stava rivelando mortalmente noioso.

This book was an agony, I could not read more than 10 pages at a time, both for the topics and for the rawness with which they were told. Since I already have "Three Women", my hope now is that it will be a different kind of book, otherwise I won't make it to the end....

Questo libro é stato un'agonia, non riuscivo a leggere piú di 10 pagine per volta, sia per gli argomenti che per la crudezza con la quale venivano raccontati. Siccome ho giá anche "Three WOmen" ora la mia speranza é tutta volta alla speranza che sia un tipo di libro diverso, altrimenti non ce la faccio ad arrivare in fondo....

So it seems this series gives a serious addiction problem....Demelza is the second one in the Poldark series and even if I slightly prefer the first one is a good reading anyway. She is a nice strong character and in a "Gone with the wind" sort of way, the best between Poldark's love, as a matter of fact I found Elizabeth totally useless as a woman and as a wife, but in the plot she has her reason to be of course.

Quindi mi sembra piuttosto chiaro che questa serie dia seri problemi di dipendenza. Demelza é il secondo volume e anche se il primo mi é piaciuto un pochino di piu, anche questo volume é piacevole. Lei é un personaggio forte che avevamo giá apprezzato nel primo libro e anche se a volte sembrava di leggere "Via col vento" io la preferisco di gran lunga ad Elizabeth che é la tipica gatta morta, che peró ai fini della trama é decisamente funzionale.

A real nice reading, the only thing that scares me to death are the next 11 book to finish this series, but let's take little steps to get there. This books are historical fiction, so I think one of the best genre to get trough summer, and this writer is really good.

Una lettura veramente piacevole, l'unica cosa che mi turba sono i prossimi 11 libri della serie, ma procediamo per piccoli passi. Questi libri sono perfetti per passare l'estate e lo scrittore é veramente bravo.

Some of these poetry were really nice to read but most of them I haven't understood. It's obviously my fault because I should just feel instead of trying so hard to get a grip on the words, but that's my problem.

Alcune di queste poesie mi sono piaciute molto, ma la maggior parte non le ho capite. Chiaramente é colpa mia perché dovrei solo lasciare che le parole fluiscano liberamente per apprezzarle, ma purtroppo non posso smettere.

I actually agree with the author about the importance of routines and the need of structure of the human being. I just do not think we should avoid novelties because boredom is also a risk. Anyway an interesting reading even if I didn't like all the examples used to prove a point.

Sono d'accordo con l'autore sull'importanza delle routine e sul bisogno di struttura dell'essere umano, sono meno d'Accordo sull'Evitare le novitá anche perché la noia é anche un fattore di rischio. Comunque una lettura interessante anche se non tutti gli esempi mi sembravano poi cosí utili a provare un certo tipo di affermazioni.

Not a bad reading but in a way really too slow and the secrets for so long kept where not so secret anymore, eventually. The story of this big family, where the sister cannot stay away from each others even when they are married, the "foreigner" who came and change the long settled situation and the little nephew whom mixes herself in "big people affairs", are the ingredients of this story that could have been better if it were shorter.

Non é una brutta storia, ma é decisamente un centinaio di pagine troppo lunga e a volte particolarmente lenta; i segreti che poi vengono rivelati alla fine, si erano intuiti da tempo. Una famiglia allargata dove le sorelle vivono assieme anche se sono sposate, con la "straniera" che arriva e cambia le carte in tavola e la nipotina (che pensa come un'adulta) e s'immischia con gli affari dei grandi sono gli ingredienti di questa storia che puó avere i suoi estimatori.
