Oh il tormento che i personaggi della Gaskell devono passare pur di arrivare alla fine dei loro libri, se ci arrivano, anche perché in alcuni casi sarebbe meglio morissero prima.
A parte gli scherzi, questi due racconti mi mancavano e li ho anche letti in italiano, quindi non posso dire niente, a parte che sembrano ben tradotti, purtroppo il melodramma é veramente troppo e senza speranza, una specie di Verga vittoriano in questo caso, e per quanto mi sforzi, non vedevo l'ora di finire queste poche pagine di sofferenza....Inoltre nella mia copia c'era anche un altro racconto, persino piú angosciante di questo, insomma...preferisco i suoi romanzi piú lunghi.

Douglas Fields is not only an expert of the brain, but also a very funny writer. So this book was not only interesting but pretty enjoyable. I found out a lot of things I didn't know either about the story of neurology (where Italian scientists were also involved) or about the brain itself, and I finally learned how does a Neurofeedback works. I would recommend to everybody that is interested in the brain.

Douglas Field non é soltanto un esperto del cervello, ma anche uno scrittore molto divertente. Quindi questo libro non é stato solo istruttivo, ma anche piacevole da leggere. Ho scoperto molte cose che ignoravo sulla storia della Neurologia (della quale hanno fatto parte anche parecchi italiani, nel bene e nel male) e sul ceervello stesso e le onde dell Elettroencefalogramma, inoltre ho finalmente capito come funziona un Neurofeedback. Consiglierei la lettura di questo libro a tutti coloro che hanno anche un seppur minimo interesse sull'argomento cervello, anche perché tra la tanta letteratura che c'é in giro, questo volume parte da una posizione particolarmente nuova.

Una storia "alternativa" degli alberi, raccontata attraverso la loro scoperta ed il loro utilizzo nel tempo. Bei disegni e ottimi storie per ricordarsi le differenze, per chi come me non ha mai saputo distinguere un albero dall'altro.

I loved her comics and this one was even better, deeper in some case and also terribly funny because I still remember how were the first weeks/months, but it seems she was able to make it last longer ;)

Mi piacciono moltissimo le strisce di questa autrice e stavolta il libro mi sembra anche migliore del precedente, piú profondo in certi casi e anche terribilmente divertente, anche perché ci sono passata anche io e ancora mi ricordo come sono state le prime settimane, ma Catana sembra riuscita a far durare i primi mesi molto di piú ;)
Non vedo l'ora esca la prossima raccolta!

I thought that for the 50th book in this series J.D.Robb would have thought about a special plot or something similar, but no, just a normal mystery book where our favorite lieutenant finds out the culprit behind some deaths. As usual, I am already waiting for the next installment....

Pensavo che per festeggiare il 50° libro della serie, l'autrice avrebbe scritto una storia speciale, ma invece niente di nuovo, la nostra Eve deve scoprire il colpevole dietro a degli omicidi apparentemente senza movente. Io mi metto, nel frattempo, ad aspettare il prossimo libro.

A very interesting manual about most of all the classic literature, that means Greek and Latin authors mostly, and their impact on all the other literature that came after them. Clear and exhaustive, my only problem was the English name gave to authors that I've always known with their Latin names. Anyway a good exercise if you forgot your Literature 101 class.

Manuale molto interessante che copre la maggior parte della letteratura classica, da intendersi pricipalmente quella latina e greca e il loro impatto sul resto della letteratura che l'ha seguita. Chiaro ed esaustivo, ma il mio unico problema era leggere di autori con nomi diversi perché anglicizzati. Comunque un buon Bignami se vi siete scordati le prime lezioni di letteratura.

Fast paced, full of adventure and also love. Sci-fi romance are not your usual romance, at last not this one which is more similar to a Urban fantasy in my opinion. Anyway the writer is able to juggle between a good and believable plot and some strong characters that in the end get together very well. Looking forward to the next one.

Rapido, pieno di avventura e anche amore. Le storie d'amore ambientate nello spazio, o almeno quelle che ho letto io fino ad ora, sono diverse dai soliti romance e assomigliano di piú agli Urban Fantasy, specialmente perché sono sempre molto piú articolati dal punto di vista della "sceneggiatura".
Comunque la scrittrice secondo me riesce a mettere insieme una buona trama ed un set di ottimi personaggi che si mescolano molto bene, ora vado a leggere il secondo immediatamente.

Even if they say this is a stand-alone novel, I would have liked to read the first one because it does not seem fair to me to judge Nexi only by this book, specially because I hate her, God it is not happen so often that I dislike and "heroine" sooo much. Anyway the plot was not bad even if it is not something "new" but still....

Anche se questa puó essere letta come romanzo singolo, mi sarebbe piaciuto aver letto anche il libro che lo precede perché non mi sembra giusto giudicare negativamente il personaggio principale solo sulla base di questo secondo volume. Comunque non mi capita spesso di "odiare" cosí tanto un'eroina di un libro. Per il resto la trama reggeva anche se non é certo una novitá.

I was worried that, after a great first book, the secondo would have been not so good, well I can happily say that it is not and the second installment in this series is also very good, fast paced and absolutely delightful, plus love, this time we also have love, which is also not bad.

Ero preoccupata che questo secondo libro non potesse reggere, non potesse essere all'altezza del primo, e invece, per fortuna, regge benissimo il colpo e inoltre aggiunge anche la storia d'amore alle avventure ed una trama che, per quanto piuttosto lineare, rimane piena di sorprese. Babel is another case of a literature genius that I do not like so much to read, mostly because this little short stories, for example, took place during the war and are sad and full of violence and death but still in his description there is beauty and poetry.

Babel é un altro di quei casi di geni della letteratura che peró non mi piacciono tanto, nel suo caso principlmente perché le sue storie, come queste per esempio, sono tutte ambientate durante la guerra e sono tristi e piene di violenza e morte, ma nonostante questo nelle sue descrizioni c'é anche una bellezza nascosta ed una certa poesia.

Great adventure, I had a blast a read it in one night and I am also delighted the there are other 2 books like this (hopefully) waiting for me. Evie became, in few hours, one of my favorite feminine characters, almost comparable to Nevada (Ilona Andrews) and Cat (Jeaniene Frost).

Avventura pazzesca, l'ho letto in una notte e sono felicissima che sia una trilogia e altri due libri mi stanno aspettando. Evi é diventata, nel giro di poche ore, una dei miei personaggi femminili preferiti, paragonabili a Nevada o a Cat.

Anche se questo non é il libro sul fratello che aspettavo, la storia di Aden mi é piaciuta parecchio lo stesso, soprattutto perché la trama non é poi cosí prevedibile ed é anche avvincente. Inoltre, il prossimo volume dovrebbe necessariamente essere su Call, o almeno (Mrs. Enoch la prego), lo spero proprio!

Review: Wicked Bite

I think it is very sad, that what could have been a single, beautiful book was even divided into three parts, the last of which has really no reason to exist if it were not for editorial duty.
The resulting story is protracted and diluted, and what are two beautiful characters become in the end just "caricatures" because their behavior seems to us repeated and stereotyped. It would also be time to realize that a good story doesn't have to become always a trilogy.

Penso che sia molto triste, che quello che poteva essere un unico e bel libro, sia stato diviso addirittura in tre parti, l'ultima della quale non ha veramente nessuna ragione di esistere se non fosse per dovere editoriale.
La storia ne risulta prolissa e diluita e quelli che sono due bei personaggi, diventano alla fine solo delle "macchiette" perché i loro comportamenti ci sembrano ripetuti e stereotipati. Sarebbe anche ora di rendersi conto che una bella storia non deve diventare per forza una trilogia.

Very interesting, especially if you have some sort of previous knowledge or if you have a relative who suffered a concussion and you want to have a glimpse of what it is happening. I am happy to be in the first class of person and I really appreciate some insights and some easy tips.

Molto interessante, specialmente con una base di conoscenze precedenti o se in presenza di amici o parenti che hanno subito un trauma cranico, e io per fortuna appartengo alla prima classe di persone. Ci sono ottime informazioni ed alcuni facili "trucchi" per aiutare il paziente.

My problem with this graphic novel was mostly due to the great expectations. I had read the adaptation of Kindred almost six months ago and I liked it a lot, so I was ready to repeat the experience, but this time the story was claustrophobic and sad (your usually post scarcity stuff) , and I also get the style of the author (sketchy tables, unfinished drawing, etc.) but all together they were too much for me and I didn't really appreciate that.

Il mio problema con questa graphic novel é da imputarsi soprattutto al fatto che avevo delle grosse aspettative in quanto avevo letto l'adattamento di Kindred circa sei mesi fa, mi era piaciuto tanto e mi aspettavo qualcosa di simile, ma stavolta la storia era claustrofobica e cupa (la classica storia post scarcity) e lo stile dell'autore (tavole solo abbozzate per esempio), per quanto avessero un senso nel descrivere questo tipo di storia, hanno formato un insieme di cose troppo pesanti perché il risultato poi mi piacesse.
