The Blazing World by Siri Hustvedt
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This is one serious good book, not only for the plot that it's interesting enough, but most of all for the way it is told. Harry is not a very famous artist, but when some other male artist show her works, she is famous. Siri Hustved wrote something precious this time.
Questo libro non é solo bello, ma é proprio particolarmente bello, per il modo in cui é scritto, per la modalitá con cui la scrittrice veicola la storia di Harry questa artista che come donna non veniva presa sul serio, forse, ma che mette in circolazione le sue opere attraverso le sue maschere ed improvvisamente arriva al successo.

This second book in the series, which I promised myself I wouldn't continue reading, was also a disappointment. Insta-love, even more incomprehensible considering the past of the protagonist. I guess it's time to say goodbye to Lora Leigh or wait for her to return to the Breeds.

I really enjoyed reading about Maddy and Gryff, even though the last part of the story has "lost its grace", if you can call it that, because I doubt that two people who are afraid of dying in a cavern have anything in mind other than looking for an exit or wasting the only candle "fooling around". but maybe it's me who doesn't understand the passion of the moment ;) Other than that, there are a couple of secondary character whose stories might interest me, so I'm sure I'll keep reading the sequels.
Mi sono proprio divertita a leggere di Maddy e Gryff, per quanto propio l'ultima parte ha "perso di grazia " se cosí si puó dire, perché dubito che due che temono di morire in una coperta abbiano in mente qualcosa di diverso dal cercare un'uscita o di sprecare l'unica candela "perdendo tempo" , ma magari sono io che non capisco la passione del momento ;) A parte questo, ci sono un paio di comprimari le cui storie potrebbero interessarmi, quindi sono sicura che continueró a leggere i sequel.

Edge of Darkness by Christine Feehan

I read only the story by Christine Feehan because I love Carpathians and also this time I was not disappointed. I was just a little bit lost at the beginning because I remembered that the last book was still set in Europe so I was wandering about this new situation in the U.S.
Ho letto solo la storia della Feehan perché i Carpaziani sono una delle mie serie preferite e li adoro e anche stavolta non sono rimasta delusa. Solo all'inizio mi sembrava un po' strano trovarsi negli Stati Uniti quando l'ultimo libro era finito in Europa.

Let me preface this by saying that the topic: from friends to lovers is one of the ones I like the least, then when the famous redeemed playboy (who can't have a relationship because his parents are divorced) comes into the mix, all my alarm bells start ringing.
So unfortunately with these premises that turned out to be dramatically true, I didn't like the book all that much, although there are some funny situations, but I don't think it was enough for me.
Premetto che giá il tropo: da amici ad amanti é uno di quelli che mi piace di meno, poi quando nel mix arriva anche il famoso playboy redento che non riesce ad avere una relazione perché i suoi genitori sono divorziati, tutti i miei campanelli di allarme cominciano a suonare.
Quindi purtroppo con queste premesse che si sono poi rivelate drammaticamente vere, il libro non mi é piaciuto poi tanto, per quanto ci sono situazioni divertenti, ma non credo che per me sia stato sufficiente.

I loved the previous books by Ruth Ozeki, but this one left me with mixed feelings. I struggled to find the suspension of belief necessary to keep on reading about talking objects and talking books. I am sorry but I am biased: every time I read that someone is hearing voices, I am pretty sure it's a case of schizofrenia because that's the clinical psychologist in me that cannot shut up....
Ho amato i libri precedenti di Ruth Ozeki, ma questo mi ha lasciato con sentimenti contrastanti. Ho faticato per continuare a leggere di oggetti e libri parlanti. Mi dispiace ma sono prevenuta e ogni volta che leggo di qualcuno sente delle voci, sono convinta che si tratti di schizofrenia perché la psicologa clinica che c'è in me che non può stare zitta....

Very beautiful book and equally sad. Although Powers has already accustomed us with The Overstory to the issues of environmental protection, in this latest novel he goes down very hard on the topic and it was very difficult to deal with some parts of the story. I find, however, that his description of Robin was definitely very accurate.
Libro molto bello e altrettanto triste. Per quanto Powers ci abbia giá abituato con The Overstory alle tematiche della salvaguardia dell'ambiente, in questo suo ultimo romanzo ci va decisamente giú durissimo ed é stato decisamente faticoso affrontare alcune parti della storia. Trovo che comunque la sua descrizione di Robin sia stata decisamente molto accurata.

I started reading this book having no idea of what to expect and in the end I was extremely grateful that I kept on reading even if the beginning is really slow.

Sara and Ross are together to find the anonymous sender of the letter about Meredith's death; she was Sara's cousin and Ross betrothed two years before and she was murdered. The plot is good and the characters nice, what bothers me was that every time they were going to talk about something important somebody else intruded and in the end that was not funny anymore.

It was a nice book even if the story of Judd and Audrey was not so captivating like the others I read by jess Michaels before, anyway it was funny and entertaining to read.

This was a good novel, but in the end I was sad for the culprit because he was just mad, as you can easily guess since the first pages of he book. Roarke made some mistakes and this made me appreciate him even more, as Eva said, it's good to know he can make mistakes also.
Queto é stato un buon libro, ma le tre stelle gliele ho date perché alla fine il colpevole era piú matto che cattivo ed in qualche modo le morti avevano ancora meno senso. Roarke commette alcuni errori e questo me lo ha fatto apprezzare di piú in quanto umano, sia a me che ad Eve.

I liked Chloe and Ralph a lot, this is not you ordinary regency romance and the two of them are quite an interesting couple, mostly because, at last at the beginning, they are not a couple. Their story in a way is different from the others and together they can be very strong, but they have to decide to be together....
Mi sono piaciuti molto Chloe e Ralph, i protagonisti di questa love story regency diversa dalle altre e come coppia sono molto interessanti, anche perché, non sono una coppia, almeno all'inizio. Le loro storie sono complesse e pesanti, ma se decidessero di stare assieme potrebbero trovare la forza di superare le loro difficoltá, ma dovrebbero sceglierlo....

Non era il caso di leggere Kafka quando uno, causa trasloco, si trova in una situazione kafkiana a sua volta. Resta la sensazione di una profondissima angoscia, di una vergogna non ben giustificata e la paranoia impera. Non credo di essere riuscita ad apprezzare la scrittura di Kafka come ne "La metamorfosi" ma sicuramente il sentimento che l'autore voleva convogliare é arrivato tutto e tutto assieme. Le due stelle sono soprattutto perché sono arrabbiata con lui.
