Bei disegni, storia solita da Murakami, niente di particolarmente indimenticabile, specialmente paragonata agli altri libri giá usciti con i disegni sui racconti brevi dell'autore come per esempio "Die Bäckereiüberfälle" o "Birthday girl", finora comunque nella mia personale classifica vince "Die unheimliche Bibliothek" a pari merito con "Schlaf".

Cool book even if I'm not blind to the similarities between its plot and "The hunger games". The author goes anyway a little bit further, with more politic and more strategy, and of course I'm already reading the second one to see if he follows the Roman Emperors dynasty in their history also, or he just uses the name. Anyway a page turner.
Libro fighissimo, anche se non mi é sfuggita la somiglianza con gli Hunger Games. Comunque l'autore fa un ulteriore passo in avanti e c'é piú strategia e piú politica all'interno di questa trama, inoltre sono giá a metá del secondo libro per vedere se l'utilizzo dei nomi delle dinastie degli imperatori romani é superficiale, o se invece anche i destini di coloro che portano gli stessi nomi si assomiglieranno....
Oltretutto é un libro che si divora....

The author is keeping up with my expectations so another good page turner which has also some food for thoughts. Luckily I'm reading it after three years from its publication so I just have to go to the next one to survive the awful cliffhanger.
L'autore continua ad essere all'altezza delle mie aspettative e quindi anche questo volume é stato divorato oltre ad avermi fatto riflettere un po' su un paio di questioni niente male. Per fortuna, avendolo letto un 2/3 anni dalla sua pubblicazione, non devo fare altro che aprire il prossimo per sopravvivere al terribile finale.

The first part is a little bit slow, but since the naming of the ship Deja Toris, which alloewed me to really appreciate the author as a fellow lover of John Carter from Mars, the book goes back to being a real page turner. I think that this was at the beginning supposed to be a trilogy, but as I got the fourth volume from Netgalley I'm wondering if it is going to be about Lysander or Pax, most important thing anyway, is that nobody else dies.
La prima parte é un po' lenta, ma da quando chiamano la nave spaziale Deja Toris, il che mi ha permesso di riconoscere nell'autore un altro amante di John Carter di Marte, il libro torna ad essere incalzante. Penso che all'inizio questa fosse una trilogia, ma siccome Netgalley mi ha mandato il quarto mi chiedo se sará su Lysander o magari su Pax, comunque l'importante é che non muoia nessun altro.

Una raccolta di saggi ed articoli che risalgono ad una ventina di anni fa, ma restano comunque piuttosto attuali, peccato perdersi alcuni riferimenti alla storia ed alla politica francese meno conosciuta ai piú.

Shame on me but I had no idea a Gilded Age existed, that said, this mystery novel is far from being a cozy mystery and I had to finish it as soon as I can because I just could not put it down. The characters are many and all very well depicted as the story and the New York of that years. Looking forward to the next installment in this series.
Mea culpa, ma non sapevo esistesse una etá dorata degli Stati Uniti (il periodo che va da 1870 al 1900), ció detto, il giallo che si dipana in quegli anni é molto ben scritto, ma non é da confondersi con gli attuali cozy mystery perché é piuttosto violento e non fa sconti. I personaggi sono parecchi ma tutti ben scritti e credo che molti torneranno nei libri futuri della serie, inoltre la descrizione di New York é molto affascinante. Chiaramente quindi, non vedo l'ora di leggere il prossimo volume della serie!

The mum of Will Schwalbe had a great life, it was sad for me to "meet her" only in the end, but the way she handled the situation was egregious. The books are my favorite part anyway, and my never ending to read list, is getting bigger and bigger.
La vita della mamma dell'autore é stata impressionante per svariate ragioni, non ultima il modo in cui ha gestito gli ultimi due anni della sua vita. Comunque la mia parte preferita resta quella sui libri, il che ha portato la mia lista, giá infinita di libri da leggere, a sforare in un universo parallelo.

Annie Ernaux est l'une de ces auteurs que j'aime pour plus que pour les écritures que pour ce qu'il écrit. Son adolescence sur-moyenne, qui l'amènera à s'éloigner le plus possible de ses origines grâce au fait d'aller à l'internat et non à l'école publique, sa relation avec sa famille et autres sont les situations racontées dans ce petit livre que J'ai n’aimai pas comme "La place".
Annie Ernaux é una di quelle autrici che mi piace piú per come scrive che per quello che scrive. La su adolescenza piccolo borghese, che la porterá ad allontanarsi il piú possibile dalle sue origini grazie al fatto di andare in collegio e non alla scuola pubblica, il suo rapporto con la famiglia e altre sono le situazioni raccontate in questo piccolo libro che non mi é piaciuto tanto come "Il posto"

Mehhh I don't know if this is a good prequel to Vicious, I kind of lost the interest in reading it....we will see.
