Review: Highland Sword

I liked this book, it had the right amount of drama and playfulness and the H and h had a very good chemistry, that I also appreciated :)
Mi é piaciuto questo libro, perché c'era la giusta mescolanza tra dramma e divertimento, inoltre i due protagonisti avevano un'ottima chimica, il che rendeva il tutto ancora piú piacevole.

Another good story with Eve loosing her badge and her cool. Anyway the plot was a little bit lacking because the author was, IMHO, concentrated in Eve's feelings, and Roarke's of course.
Un altra storia di facile lettura dove Eve perde il distintivo e anche la calma. Comunque stavolta ho trovato la trama un pochino lacunosa, perché secondo me l'autrice era piú concentrata nel raccontare cosa passasse per la testa della sua protagonista e in quella di Roarke, ovviamente.

È passato troppo tempo dall'ultima volta che ho letto Mishima e mi ero scordata quanto le sue atmosfere rarefatte e le sue parole quasi scarse che nonostante tutto riescono a dipingere perfettamente una scena, mi piacessero. Tutto quello che ancora mi manca da leggere delle sue opere, mi sembrano perfettamente adeguate a riempire questi lunghi pomeriggi di quarantena.

The Buried Giant by Kazuo Ishiguro

Strange book, as everybody already said it is not what you expect from Ishiguro, even if it is not so easy to know what a great writer is going to write. Anyway this novel was too slow and "Proustian" in a way to be a nice fantasy (even if there are ogres and dragons), which is the reason why I gave it only 3 stars even if he is usually one of my favorite writer. Still it is full of magic and if you love the knights of Arthur's round table it is possible that you would appreciate this story.
Strano libro, come hanno giá detto in tanti, non é quello che ci si poteva aspettare da Ishiguro, come se fosse facile immaginare che cosa scriverá un grande autore. Comunque secondo me questa storia era troppo lenta e proustiana per essere un buon fantasy (anche se ci sono orchi e draghi), quindi questa é la ragione per cui gli ho dato solo tre stelle, nonostante solitamente Ishiguro sia uno dei miei autori preferiti. Resta comunque un libro pieno di magia e se vi piacciono i cavalieri della tavola rotonda é possibile che la storia vi piaccia.

Easy reading, fast, straight to the point, a good thriller even if we know from the beginning who is the bad guy.
Facile e veloce questa storia breve, che mi é piaciuta anche se sappiamo sin da subito chi é il cattivo.

Review: Heartbreaker

Better than the first one, really fast paced and with a good plot. The love story was a little bit too fast, a sort of InstaLove, but ok.
Meglio del primo libro di questa serie, con un ritmo piuttosto rapido ed una buona trama. La storia d'amore é stata un po' troppo istantanea per i miei gusti, ma ok...

With this book I read whatever Chimamanda Nogozie Adichie wrote since she started her career as a writer. She is one of my favorite author by far and this book only made me more sure about that, she is so able to mix funny things with war, despair with humor, that I have to say I appreciate this book as much as I loved Americanah that was her first book that I read.
Con questo, ho letto tutto quello che Chimamanda Ngozie Adichie abbia mai pubblicato da quando ha cominciato a scrivere. Attualmente é una delle mie scrittrici preferite e questo ultimo romanzo non ha fatto che rafforzare questa mia convinzione, soprattutto per la sua capacitá di mischiare cose divertenti con la guerra, la disperazione con l'umorismo e devo ammettere che questo libro mi é piaciuto tanto quanto Americanah, il suo primo libro che ho letto.

Ok I have to admit that I cannot avoid to read every other day a book about Eve Dallas, maybe this thing is going to change, it has to change considering that J.D.Robb wrote "only" 50 short stories and novels, but still I'm delighted that I still have more or less 40 to read :)
Devo ammettere che non posso evitare di leggere un libro con Eve Dallas almeno un giorno sí e uno no, magari questo cambierá e deve farlo considerando che l'autrice ne ha scritti "solo una cinquantina" (tra storie brevi e romanzi). Sono comunque molto felice che me ne manchino piú o meno una quarantina :)

I grow fond of this book while I was reading it, strange construction of a plot that in the end becomes clear but still I was so disappointed with the final that I think this will be the only book by T.C.Boyle read by me.
Questo libro é cominciato a piacermi durante la lettura, la strana costruzione della trama che diventa piú chiara verso la fine, ma comunque, proprio parlando del finale, mi ha deluso cosí tanto che non credo daró un'altra possibilitá a T.C.Boyle.

What the author describes are things that we can all try to do, even if if you live in a city or in a Condo to be precise, it may not be so easy....Good tips that can also be implemented in time or used not all together. Very clear and precise.
Quelle che l'autrice descrive sono strategie e tecniche che potremmo usare tutti, per ridurre il nostro impatto ambientale, solo che se invece di vivere in campagna abitiamo in un condominio in cittá, la cosa potrebbe richiedere parecchi aggiustamenti. Comunque l'autrice é molto chiara e precisa nelle sue spiegazioni.

Devo smettere, almeno momentaneamente, di leggere questa serie, perché ora mi sta infastindendo il fatto che in ogni caso c'é il rischio che Rourke sia il colpevole, magari ne leggo solo un altro e poi mi fermo un pochino ;)

Review: Love Hard

I like the story of Jake and Jules, it was not a "usual one" and in a way, even the Insta-Love was justified because they have known each other since forever. I appreciate knowing a little bit more about New Zeland and the world of rugby also. Looking forward to Denny`s story!
La storia di Jake e Jules mi é piaciuta, perché le premesse non erano le solite e anche se, in un certo senso il loro é stato un amore molto "rapido", in qualche modo era giustificato dal fatto che si conoscessero "da sempre". Inoltre la vita in Auckland é interessante cosí come la Nuova Zelanda e il mondo del Rugby, che ignoro quasi completamente. Non vedo l'ora che esca la storia di Denny!

The story is not bad, but I do not like the art so much and the best thing absolutely was the super BROMANCE, between Superman and Batman, I mean it was so totally cool but I can imagine that not everybody was as happy as me ;)
La storia non é male, per quanto il viaggio nel tempo é veramente gestito male, ma i disegni non mi sono piaciuti mentre la storia tra Superman e Batman era cosí totalmente gay da essere meravigliosa, ma immagino che alcuni lettori non abbiano apprezzato tanto quanto me.

52 Things Sons Need from Their Moms by Angela Thomas

My first mistake was to request this book without realizing that it was strictly directed to Christian mothers, said that and given that even I can sometimes consider myself such, it contrasts clearly with chapters whose title is "teach him to treat women / mother / sisters "and the chapter in which the mother in question, should teach the child to recognize the type of girl to marry. Personally I found it fun to the border with the dramatic; then clearly there is also the section of the South African context, that, as an Italian living in Berlin, is completely beyond me. In short, I was not the right person for this book, despite my Christian roots and my baby boy being almost six years old, but that does not mean that there are people who can appreciate the whole.
Il mio primo errore é stato richiedere questo libro senza accorgermi che era strettamente indirizzato a mamme cristiane, detto questo e premesso che anche io posso a volte considerarmi tale, ció contrasta in modo evidente con capitoli il cui titolo é "insegnargli a trattare le donne/madre/sorelle" e il capitolo in cui la madre in questione, dovrebbe insegnare al figlio a riconoscere il tipo di ragazza da sposare. Personalmente ho trovato il tutto divertente al confine con il drammatico, poi chiaro c'é anche il capitolo del contesto Sud-Africano, che, da italiana vivente a Berlino, mi sfugge completamente. Insomma, non ero la persona giusta per questo libro, nonostante le mie radici cristiane e il mio bambino di quasi sei anni, ma questo non significa che non ci siano persone che possano apprezzare il tutto.

Once again it shows how often these icons are but that mirrors where readers and fans are reflected over the years and projected depending on the mode and the problems of the moment.
Questo interessante saggio che illustra la parabola del personaggio Capitan America, dall'inizio ad oggi, si focalizza sia sulla sua immagina ipermascolinizzata, sia sui cambiamenti che il supereroe ha subito nel frattempo. Ancora una volta si evidenzia come spesso queste icone non siano che degli specchi dove i lettori e i fan si rispecchiano e nel corso degli anni si proiettano a seconda delle mode e dei problemi del momento.
