This is really a good book, shame on me because I hoped until the last in the salvation of all, but it was obvious that the story had other plans. A boy and a deserter through the siege lines in St. Petersburg (Leningrad at the time) to try to find 12 eggs that will make the wedding cake of daughter of a Russian general. That does not seem nothing so fancy, but Kolya and Lev are two of those characters that you come back often to think.

Questo é veramente un bel libro, peccato perché fino all'ultimo ho sperato nella salvezza di tutti, ma era evidente che la storia aveva altri programmi. Un ragazzo e un disertore attraversano le linee di assedio a San Pietroburgo (ai tempi Leningrado) per cercare 12 uova che faranno la torta di nozze di un generale russo. Detta cosí non sembra niente di eccezionale, ma Kolya e Lev sono due di quei personaggi a cui spesso si torna a pensare.
