OUT TODAY:

The Only StoryThe Only Story by Julian Barnes
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

It's incredible, but not so much in the end, how much sadness can Barnes pack in 224 pages. As this is probably the saddest book he has ever written, and he wrote many and mostly they are all sad. That said I think that this is an incredible good book, the way the story of Susan and Paul is portrayed would be indelibly stamped in my mind with the related emotions. I didn't imagine what ride I had in front of me when I read "The only real question".

Music as Alchemy: Journeys with Great Conductors and Their Orchestras

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Eight different conductors and their most impressive performances. The reason why a conductor can be even more important than the more talented musician in the orchestra and what does it conducting really implies. The most interesting for me were the chapter about Simon Rattle (because I live in Berlin and I had the pleasure of listening to his Berliners) and of course Claudio Abbado, because he was Italian.

Unraveled (Whiskey Sharp, #1)Unraveled by Lauren Dane
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Abusive family are not my cup of tea, and this could be the reason why I haven't appreciated this book so much, but it is not bad and the characters have a good chemistry. I will read the next anyway because Lauren Dane is always enjoyable.

The Biophilia Effect: A Scientific and Spiritual Exploration of the Healing Bond Between Humans and NatureThe Biophilia Effect: A Scientific and Spiritual Exploration of the Healing Bond Between Humans and Nature by Clemens G. Arvay
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I actually have mixed feelings about this book, because I don't believe everything that it is written here, but maybe that is due to the difference between a botanist/biologist and a psychotherapist.

Lies That Comfort and Betray (A Gilded Age Mystery #2)Lies That Comfort and Betray by Rosemary Simpson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book goes a little bit slower compared to the first one, but is still a good and enjoyable reading and I liked the idea of Jack the Ripper moving to New York a lot, I think we will still hear talking about Father Brennan.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wallflower Most Wanted (Studies in Scandal, #3)Wallflower Most Wanted by Manda Collins
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Not the best of the series, but non the worst either, still this series of Manda Collins seems so slow compared to her former works. Maybe it's just me. Anyway I think this is the first regency romance that I read where the main character is involved with a vicar, which was interesting enough. Let's wait for the sister book.

A Devil in Scotland (No Ordinary Hero, #3)A Devil in Scotland by Suzanne Enoch
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Even if the idea was not bad, I found this book boring most of the times, also when it was one of my favorite story: the one that starts with a misunderstanding that can totally ruin the HEA. Plus I have to say I didn't get attached neither to Callum or to Rachel, so it was like watching a film from afar, and not being so much interested also.
