A Woman in Berlin: Eight Weeks in the Conquered City: A DiaryA Woman in Berlin: Eight Weeks in the Conquered City: A Diary by Anonymous
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

What would you do if you are a woman alone to survive in a city occupied by enemies? And how much will you pay for your choices? The anonymous diary of a thithy something year old woman in Berlin after the soviet "liberation". Hard to read but unavoidable.

Dead Ever After (Sookie Stackhouse, #13) by Charlaine Harris

Dead Ever After (Sookie Stackhouse, #13)

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Exactly as expected, especially after the 12th book, is finished the series of Sookie Stackhaus, one of those series that when I read "I came out with my friends." It is not finished as I wanted, as I always belonged to team Eric, but at least she is not back with Bill, just ... just .... falling in love with his best friend has always seemed to me a choice of convenience, what would an author in his sixties God-fearing would do, and indeed she did.
No redemption for Eric; in this book everybody just come back to say goodbye and some even forever, we see Quinn, Alcide again and of course all those who have gone through more or less the life of Sookie leaving a mark, Barry and Arlene including .
I wanted it to end differently, I wanted so many things were different, but all in all the end makes sense even if you do not like.

Potsdam Station: A John Russell WWII Thriller by David Downing

Potsdam Station: A John Russell WWII ThrillerPotsdam Station: A John Russell WWII Thriller by David Downing
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

A spy story, that is a love story, that is a story of parenthood and has an happy ending, which is the best thing of the plot in the end IMHO. The charachters are well known as this is the 4th installation in the series, but as a read alone novel they miss part of their background, plus they always miss each other for 5 minutes, and end the end this was pretty boring. Best part was Berlin in 1945, short before the soviet army arrives to "free" the city. Even there, I think the author exagerrated hi knowledge of the city, because from time to time I thought it was some orientering course.

Claim Me (Stark Trilogy, #2) by J. Kenner

Claim Me (Stark Trilogy, #2)Claim Me by J. Kenner
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

Again, the author has done it again and then I wonder why I requested to netgalley this second volume when the first one I read already exasperated me .... So we can sum up this story that is dramatically similar to Fifty Shades , the Crossfire trilogy and all that type of books that goes like: billionaire with problems that stem from childhood meets former model terribly clever, but in turn with a past to be forgotten behind. If, however, in former cases there could be at least a hint of a plot, in this case we are right to parody. For example, the couple has a problem? Solve it with sexual acrobatics! He is accused of murder? Let´s fuck! She is being chased by paparazzi who investigate about her past and about the suicide of her sister? This is just the best prelude to a little 'healthy bondage. So pitiful. In addition, three quarters of the book describe the vagaries of the protagonist who looks at his billionaire wondering why such perfection in terms of both personality and physical, as well as monetary, ever happened to her. Personally, I wonder that too, but you know that we are reading fiction. Then this series I completely dislike and I wonder how many books do I have read where the billionaire ultra-cool and abused fight against his ghosts to trust a woman that's good for sex, but not for much else? Anyway billionaires of the world is time for your outing, we all know that you were abused in the past and that´s the reason why you are rich now.....

Never Too Late by Amara Royce

Never Too LateNever Too Late by Amara Royce
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

The story had good premise, unfortunately is really dragged too much, in the end if it were not that she worked in a bookstore I would also put a star less. Too bad because you do not often read a book in which the difference in age is underscored and it is the woman to be older.

After The Wall by Jana Hensel

After The WallAfter The Wall by Jana Hensel
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

What will you do if your country chase to exist and everything that was known to you from one day to another is not there anymore? What would you feel if your new country is full of people that despise you or try to help you and you do not want to be helped? Life after the fall of the wall is different for whom was behind the wall. GDR life described by a girl that was thirteen when "her world" comes to an end and from her parents on, no adults are able to teach her how to live or survive in the "new" world. Fascinating and well written.

Affascinante e ben scritto.

Beyond Control (Beyond, #2) by Kit Rocha

Beyond Control (Beyond, #2)Beyond Control by Kit Rocha
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Sometimes a good book, with lots of good characters, but not too many, and a plot that holds, can be slowed down and almost ruined by an unusual amount of sex scenes in every possible way,and this is the case. Too bad, because the first book this author shows strong potentials, only this excess of sex at the end is only boring.

The Spy Who Came in from the Cold by John le Carré

The Spy Who Came in from the Cold

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Even better than "The spying game" this book was a matrioska that i couldn't put down. Not only the story was great and well written, but the psychology behind was unbelievable. Easy to say I had no idea what was going to happen till it, eventually, happened.

Ovviamente fino all'ultimo non avevo capito niente.

Beyond Shame (Beyond, #1) by Kit Rocha

Beyond Shame (Beyond, #1)

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Never underestimate a dystopian erotic book, which in itself I would have not read, if I had not been recommended by a friend I trust. And here's the surprise, good story, albeit with a little 'too much sex, the type of exaggeration sex that then one gets bored and jumps the pages, but the story is not all bad, and I already have the second book, again thanks to netgalley. The two main characters are surrounded by interesting actors who have most of their five minutes of fame and will probably have their book, also the background with this Eden destined for the rich and districts reserved for outcast me is definitely willing.

Goodbye to Berlin by Christopher Isherwood

Goodbye to BerlinGoodbye to Berlin by Christopher Isherwood
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

After I read "A single man" I thought that Isherwood was pretty boring, but I really appreciated the stories in this volume, most of all because they are set in Berlin in the years short before the nazi. A pecualiar point of view of a special time in history.

The first one was better, anyway this series is one of the funnier I recently read with his mix of fairies, elves and steampunk.

Philosophy In The Garden by Damon Young

Philosophy In The Garden

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

A nice book that informs about some philosophers and authors from s "botanical" point of view. What were Jane Austen's favourite flowers, and why Marcel Proust wrote with three bonsai in his room? Many of these things I didn't know and they were helpful to know something diffrent from the usual stuff one generally knows about famous writers and Philosophers; for example the problem Nietzsche had with his eyes or the disappointment Sarte felt for himself when he was 30, shows under a different light some of their works. Well written and fun to read.
